Awesome Track Day Car

About 40,000 if you are good with oil changes and mechanical sympathy, however, the 5JJ does have a habit of eating selector forks if you are rough on them, so that may be required first...

will go for around £10k I would imagine, which for a 2006 road legal track day car is pretty darn good...

Add a set of 13 inch rims and slicks at £30 each, and you can drive it to the track as well..

:D

If a good bike engine can deliver 40,000 miles - that's more than enough for the purpose.

If it was me - I'd be budgeting for the engine to be dead at 30,000.

Yeah, food for thought - track day weapon. I'm interested too.

I would have thought a megabusa would return more miles than that if looked after. They are 1.3 and technically a touring bike so would expect it to last a bit longer than a normal race bike engine, although I dont know anything about it really.

When I used to ride 2 stroke RDLCs they used to need a rebore after about 15k miles IIRC.

I have ridden an origonal carb'd R6 which has done 72000 miles with varying ammounts of mechanical sympathy and the engine felt strong, (he has a long commute which is far faster on bike). Only maintenance being routine and a clutch.
On a track and sunday thrash only weapon then 40000 should be easilly do-able if decently looked after.

I suppose the extra weight of the car strains them a little more than when on a bike though.

pretty low power as the r1 lump is standard guise, pushing 160/170 at a push, needs a blower or gas on it to make it a decent toy :)

mate of mine has a dax putting out 330hp now that is a toy :D

Thing is, this car weighs 440kg...

And with 330 bhp it would be spinning its wheels everywhere...

If you only use for the road, you could expect a decent mileage on it if you are mechanically sympathetic and can change gear smoothly..

Mine has 200 bhp and weighs 540kg with 50 ltrs of fuel on board, and its a pig to keep traction even with an LSD and toyo 888's...

But when it breaks traction it drifts real nice

:D

think his is around the 500kg mark so not far from it, his doesnt break traction unless he wants it to, his puts up consistantly very low 11's, they are seriously dangerous cars and deserve a lot of respect but when you can blow away bikes and see the look on their faces it makes it all worth while :)

not unless you can see the look of me laughing from the back of my helmet :D( I think I' struggle, have to borrow the GSXR off the cousin to give you a scare when I wont get out of the mirrors! like the rest of the sunday bikers :p )

you can tell some of them really know what they are doing though, real hard to keep hold of, on the wrong road its say bye bye time! hell I know a guy in a clio cup who is danm near impossible to keep hold ofdown tight lanes, the driver/rider makes the difference!

There are a lot of guys with various 7's who go down our local popular bike route, never got the chance to stop with them and see what they are running, a few of them sound like bike engined ones, I think they go to scalp bikes, they get a shock when you wont go away!

Seriously though I have big respect for cars that are genuinely as quick as quick bikes, good fun! had a go in a CSR260 and loved it! Blowing away bikes is easy as 90% of riders can't get anywhere near the bikes abilities, not saying I can but closer than most of these guys who like to talk about riding fast at the pub. Cars limits are easier to get nearish than bikes IMO having tried both, as with bikes that last few% of greatness is what seperates the men from the boys which us mere mortals cannot hope to emulate, like melandri's one handed massive slide the other week, or various mcrae antics!

It must just be savage and break traction everywhere with over 300bhp, either that or its set up very very well! I think I would have more fun in a well set up 7 rep with 150-200 bhp and light as possible, personally thats what I would be looking for in a track/sunday car. That thing looks amazing! right up my street,

I suppose if you have a lot of experience of his sort of car then you like the extra power for the challenge!
Can bearly afford to take the bike to the track at the mo though, so no chance in a car.

Yeah you can stop it from breaking traction, but if it has 330bhp there is no way you can get anywhere near its maximum possible 0-60 time etc as you have to feather it everywhere...

Mine only has 175bhp at the rear wheels and I have to back off on a sprint...

Pulling away its snake city...

:D

what I was trying to get at, cheers! :)
but for an experienced driver I guess that would be part of the fun!

Looks like a fun machine...as does this:

Here

This was up last September, with holes through a couple of pistons, worth bearing in mind (had a pretty severe engine failure).

Need some work before it came road-useable again, ditch those metal mounts and so on but you could get it there...

Shame it doesn't have an MOT tho, god knows what might come up...am tempted but I think I'd rather build up my own - I suspect it's like my 1500, despite running and driving it could need a fair bit to get it up and running again.

Got a similar rear spoiler to me, mind!

Mad max interceptor style for the win

About 160BHP mind but plenty light enough and of course, RWD. Still, I shan't be buying it as I could guarantee anyone that car will be more trouble than anything, even more than my 1500!
