Straight in at 3.15ghz :D
Nice, what volts? what cooling are you using? and what motherboard are you testing them on? (No TAT?)

Looking forward to some stability shots, bit longer than 15 seconds eh! :D

[edit] If possible can you post a picture of your testbed.

The price of the E2140 just dropped a whooping £1.00!!

To buy a 2140 or 2160 that is the question?

Just put the vcore to 1.55 v and its under water on a DQ6

Needs tweaking as I cant get the chip to boot at 3.3ghz at all.

TBH I will spend more time tomo.

Will find the top clock at stock vcore though stable but TBH I'm just interested in what these chips can do.

I've got an E2160 arriving today, gonna pair it with a Tuniq Tower, P5B-D and a pair of 1GB 6400 Cellshocks, I'll be sure to post my oc results in here when I've finished abusing the little chap. :D

leave your little chap alone ... this is a family forum! ;)

Hurrah! A good 2 weeks after I made the order and Citylink finally decide to deliver it today, for moment I was a little bit worried that it might of got lost in action.

Any how, I've got my mitts on it now so I'll post my oc results, orthos screens etc as soon as I'm done with it.

To be honest I'm suprised no one else has added to this thread with their E21xx results, surely it can't be only Easy and me who've bought one of these to have a play with, or can it?

Results to follow...

I'm keeping ths one @ 3.2 ghz until July when the quads get dropped in price again.

3.2 ghz is plenty and I notice no HIT when editing and encoding that makes me want to rush out and get a 4mb cache.

59 quid offers great value :p

No I'm sure there will be a few of us. Just got mine installed and am still fiddling around with cooling etc as this thing seems to be running a little warmer than I expected. Haven't tried any overclocking yet.

I notice its one of those [L2] stepping chips so some of my temp reading programs are incorrect, however as always TAT and CoreTemp 0.95 are still fine.

I'm not sure what core this chip has but I'm guessing Allandale right?

E2140 (SLA3J) @2800MHz (8x350) - 1.325vCore/BIOS - P5B-Deluxe/Ultra 120 - 36°C/61°C Orthos Load

Slowly working my way upwards to see how many free MHz this CPU has using just stock voltage. So far thats an extra 1200MHz which is pretty good going!

The CPU had a nice and flat/smooth IHS so I was hoping for decent temps but even though I am using the Thermalright Ultra-120 the Orthos Load is roughly 61°C which seems quite high all things considered.

Still 'overcooling' addiction aside, everything is running nice and stable and of course the machine is very nippy.

After the FA Cup final has finished I will nudge it up some more, not sure if the next stop is [8x375] 3000MHz or [8x400] 3200MHz, I just wonder if these temps are gonna hold me back?

Will post back later, go on Chelsea!! :D

Ok, 2800MHz passed a gruelling 24 hour Orthos Small FFTs session, continued using the PC throughout so I am happy that the overclock is solid.

Nudged the E2140 up to 3000MHz now, still using stock (1.325)vCore, will post some proper screens once its passed stability testing (currently 9 hours 47mins into Orthos Small FFTs)

I am putting together a second Core 2 Duo machine this week and will be doing some testing with the 'stock' cooling because lets face it if your looking to put a rig together on the cheap your not likely to spend a fortune on a 3rd Party 'Monster' heatsink. I've never used a stock INTEL Core 2 Duo fan before so I thought I would give one a go and see how I got on with overclocking.

You can see that the E6300 HSF has a solid copper slug at the bottom compared to the E2140's 'all aluminium' design. I guess the copper one should produce slightly better results?

I also noticed that the E2140 is branded as a PENTIUM? its all over the box and the included case sticker shows the PENTIUM logo, lol whats up with that? :D
