Sky+ to Pc

No the files on the Sky+ box are heavily encrypted. I guess someone may have figured it but but I have never heard of it. I was interested in doing this a while back. There is an app that lets you transfer files from one HDD to another, for example you were swapping to a bigger drive but wanted to keep some of the content. Check out the Digital Spy Forum Sky+ section.

You can get unscrambled programs (like the BBC channels) off the HDD by putting it in a PC and using +extract to turn them into transport streams (*.ts).

The best way that works for all your channels, is to use the Sweetspot RGB capture card, and a SCART - Component cable.

3rd best (and much cheaper), is to use S-video from the Sky+ box to a gfx card or TV card that can accept S-video

is there any way i can transfer recorded programs from my sky+ box to my pc?

Buy a DVD recorder (standalone not a PC related one) record whatever using scart leads, remove the disc & insert it in your PC.

Edit Doesn't work for Box Office, PPV but works for everything else.

The only way to backup is using a DVD Recorder, Sky wouldn't make it that easy when you're only paying £40+ a month.

If you rig it up with S-Video you can watch Sky through media centre, but AFAIK you can't record.

hey dude been talking to guy about it

if you have 180 or 280 box(sky+) you can use scart or svideo to connect it to your pc then record it using computer software

s-video has slighty better recording quailty but not noticable...

hope this helps

ps 380 boxs that are coming out (hd) have sata connection on back of there boxs :)

What is the new HD software fixing? Are you sorting the bad ff & rw and the random power cycles that are reported on the forums (both of which I experience too :()

A retail DVD recorder is still favourite in my opinion. Set it up overnight, the sky box can be set to play multiple recordings back, you don't have to watch it playback, take the disc out in the morning & stick it in your PC.

Sorry to be rude but are you on crack?

If you worked for sky you will know the sky+ doesn't have an svideo output.

Some may do, but not in use.

Like the e-sata port which is already on the back of the HD box which is not currently in use.

Got to worry about the USB port which has been there for the past 4 years first.
