Hi - I got knocked off my motorcle by a car driver who was going too fast over a single carriageway bridge, he got out of his car, moved my bike which was stopping his car going anywhere and after telling me he was going to pull over he drove off leaving me with a fractured elbow, some serious ligament damage, lots of bruising and a bike that is probably written off. I was too shaken up to get his number plate and didn't suspect he'd be doing a runner anyhow, but he did leave a peice of plastic behind. The car was dark blue and seemed square shaped not like modern cars which are more rounded, I seem to remember it being long bodied or possibly an estate. I've been to a couple of local breakers yards and they both said they thought it would be off a Japanese car and would have been manufactured in the 90's, because it has a reflective strip it would seem it would be a side light of some sort and because there's no obvious mounting pooints (just some grey glue) they think it is part of a larger section rather than a thin wraparound bumper light. Does anyone have any ideas on the car type or anywhere else I could post the pictures for help ID'ing the car?

first things first, are you ok?
Thanks, into week 2 after the accident and I can walk OK now, the bike landed on my left leg so my knee and ankle took a bit of a hit, the swellings gone down but there's still a fair bit of bruising and a hole in my kneecap which is scabbed over. The fractured elbow is still painful and I've been told that I have to keep exercising it which doesnt help with the pain short term but should help long term (I cant straighten it ATM). I just find it hard to accept that people dont have any kind of conscience and can just leave you at the side of the road unable to walk or use your arm, I could kind of understand if it was a kid but the guy was in his 50's.

Damn, doing a runner when you bump someones car in a car park is one thing but leaving someone hurt takes a whole other kind of ****.

Haven't got a clue on the light but that squared section is quite distinctive. Hopefully the person will be caught and punished.

This is the nearest we got at the breakers, an early Honda Integra, the wraparound sidelight was almost an identical match but there was no silver reflective strip and the guy said that because there was no obvious mounting points on the piece I have it was unlikely, I guess I could contact Honda.

I reckon we should be able to ID a car from that! I'm gonna take a walk round the work carpark and see if I can match anything up :)

Unfortunately there doesn't appear to be any serial numbers on the piece, else that'd make life easier (and I guess you wouldn't have asked here if there was one :p).

The breakers dont think it's part of the main hedlight due to the patterning on the plastic which would diffuse the light too much, because it's got the reflective strip it suggests it more from on the side of the car.

The car hit me pretty much head on, on the drivers side so it would have come from the front of the drivers area or down the drivers side as me or the bike slid down.

Sadly no identification numbers, what you see is what I have.

Police said they have checked CCTV but coverage in my area is limited, so no joy with that.

Looks like the bottom corner of a headlight to me, of a very flat fronted car, so old accord / volvo type thing, i know the 340's has glass lights so no doubt the 740's did as well.

Car can't be silly old since its plastic.
