scary childrens tv shows

Just been talking in the office about tv programs designed for kids that made you crap yourself as a kid. I particularly remember the witch from Chorlton and the Wheelies that used to pop up during the intro/outro (can't quite remember). She used to cackle and I used to hide behind my nan's sofa.....

What was that one were they always put out the fire at the end?

I know its not a kids program but I used to get scared watching Strange but True on a Friday night

How the hell was Around the twist scary? most of the stories come from childrens comedy books written by Paul Jennings.

Edit: Saying that, they did have some spooky ghost ones, I remember now.

Simply the actors. There was something not quite right with some of those kids.

a couple of people were talking about the recent two parter of Dr Who scaring their kids half to death. I know it's not strictly aimed at kids but it's generally regarded as family entertainment. Didn't see it but summat about skeleton warriors eating people.

Magic Roundabout crapped me up as a kid, and that 'We're walking the air' song always gave me the creeps.

Does anyone remember American Gothic? That scared me when I was younger - not a kids programme but still.

And noticed the other day that Caleb is the lead role in Fast & Furious: Tokyo Drift. Lol.

Yeah I used to love that but I was about 17 when I was watching it so no scare factor there unfortunately.
