"Public RC due for May 5th"

I heard it was May 5th for TechNet Subscribers?
Either way, I'll give the RC a shot, having tried out most of the Beta builds.

Is there anywhere to get the latest build from other than the stupid torrent sites/rapishare accounts? Or is it worth waiting for the RC to be released amd not bothering with the current beta builds?

that depends.. if you're already running an early beta, it's definately worth upgrading to the latest build. build 7077 fixed a multitude of things for me over 7068 :)

Yes Windows 7 RC coming in May but MS wont say when the final release so maybe RC start from May then next one RC1 then RC2 before final release as you can see there are lots of build numbers.

Will we be able to upgrade from 7077 to 7100 without a full reinstall?

Yes but you need to edit a file.

1. Copy the contents of the ISO or DVD to a separate storage location (such as a bootable USB storage device, a separate partition or whatever)
2. Open the file \sources\cversion.ini in a text editor and modify the MinClient number to a number lower than the version Windows 7 that you want to upgrade from – so for the beta you would set this to something like 6900.
3. Save the file and then run the install routine from the location with the modified file

May 5th cannot come any sooner.

I'm holding off installing until this is released. My itchy trigger fingers are dying to install the 7077 though. :(

if ms advise against an 'upgrade', it's probably for a good reason tbh.

it's not hard to reinstall drivers and a few apps now is it? :p

Was playing around with the 64bit Ultimate last night, loved it. Installed really quick and worked straight away. No drivers needed, only a couple updates and was surfing and gaming away very quickly.

hmmmmm, downloading windows 7 beta from MSDN AA through university thingy... not sure what build it is, doesn't say anything
