Afternoon everyone :)

I just thought I'd put a warning out here as Vista SP2 is just around the corner and I know people here like to apply service packs as soon as they are released.

Eset NOD32 v4 does not work with Vista SP2 - people are experiencing random lock ups and BSODs. They only way around this at the moment is to downgrade to NOD32 v3. There have been numerous complaints on the ESET support forum but we have had no official response from ESET yet, although this problem has been known about for over a week now.

I'll update this thread when they release an updated version that fixes these bugs.

Just did a quick google and it seems that the program's self defence thingy is causing the problems with SP2 and disabling it is a fix for now.

This does work for a while, but do two or three restarts of your system and you will find that realtime protection fails to start - after this it's just pot luck if the service starts or not.

ESET still haven't released a fix or acknowledged this problem on their forums or website - pretty poor show for a company I once rated so highly :(

Have you started a touble ticket? Company forums are always primarily for user -> user interaction and not monitored closely by the company.

Yeah, we have submitted a ticket but had no response yet - As soon as I do find out they are working on it I'll update the Wilders Security thread and this thread :)

Just had a response from ESET Tech Support. Apparently the problem is down to the Anti-Stealth module in NOD32 v4 and they are currently testing a new build of it which fixes the BSOD's - No release date was given but it's going to come down with the normal definition updates rather than a seperate software build :)

Sounds good. :)

Is there a way to turn it off in the meanwhile, or will we need to wait?

Edit: NM there is an option to turn it off in the advanced settings, couldn't find it before.

I'm running the latest build of Nod 32 v4 with Vista x64 SP2 and its running fine. I suffered some problems with an RC SP2 but at the moment the released version is running along side with no problems!
