4GB instead of 6GB detected (x64, Asus P6T)

As far as I remember, when I bought the PC, 6 GB of DDR3 Ram was detected.
However, I did not notice when (probably after few days or weeks) it stopped working.

There are 3 x 2 GB Corsair's 1333 MHz (6gb in total) in the orange slots.

I've been flipping them around to different slots to check if it it's the ram stick issue or slot.
After 15 minutes I determined it's the first orange slot from the left that is not working. I'm not sure what's could be the reason.

I'm able to put the stick into black colour slot and 6GB is detected but I'm still not sure about few things.

My questions are:
  1. What's the difference between orange slots and black slots? If so, please explain.
  2. Does it affect overclocking (i7 + rams) because as far as I know when I got 4gb RAM it's not called triple channel anymore.
  3. Is there any difference between putting (2 sticks of ram to 2 orange slots) and (3 sticks of ram to 2 orange slots and 1 black slot)?

Hi, sounds like the mobo is faulty then so you should arrange an RMA for it
In the mean time, theres no difference between the orange and black slots as such, but to keep it running in triple channel then they should all be in one colour or the other, as the first orange one is borked, use all the black ones, if you mix and match then yeah it will only run in single channel mode

I get this if I try to run 8-8-8 timings instead of 9-9-9 at 1600mhz, it only detects 4GB.

Same memory and mobo as well by look of it.

Have you tried 1 stick of ram at a time and making sure each one works one by one, make sure it's the mobo.
If it's a broken orange slot you should RMA it, even if all the black slots work, if one thing has gone wrong with the board then who knows what could go next, best to get a new one while you can.
 
I had this exact same problem when I got my P6T Deluxe V2...when I sent it back where I got it from, they said there was a bent pin on the CPU socket...it would have voided the warranty but they straightend it and suddenly it found 6GB...same RAM as yours as well...

So, you said it runs on "single channel mode". Does it means I might find it harder to overclock i7 than in triple channel mode?
I've heared triple channel makes overclocking better?

Yes, it is motherboard for sure. I checked all the sticks one by one, all of them are working.
