It will fit the same boards unless they don't support the CPU code, but that is usually addressed in a BIOS update, and only really when they're old boards.

It has more L2 cache than a q6600 and a higher stock clockspeed, but to leave it at 2.66 would be silly! Depending on what your quad is clocked to now, it probably wouldn't be a major improvement tbh, though some applications will improve, I wouldn't expect gaming to change much.

Will it clock to around 3.2GHZ (Which is what I would accept as passable)??

Would this be a good performance bump in Arma2 over my E6600? Just spent £370 getting the car fixed and was going to wait till prolly october to get the Q9550 if it was a little cheaper by then.

Upto 3.8ghz with P45 or X48. Lucky to get 3.6ghz with P35, usually less than 3.5ghz with X38.


All dependent on which way the wind's blowing ofcourse.
