Right guys got my 1st Kingston installed today and thought i would have a little bench.

I have compared both hard drives in IDE and in ACHI mode to show the differences.

What you think ?

You can see the biggest difference is with the 4k random read and writes - this is largely determined by the average access time of the drive... so you can see a 50x increase in random accesses.

Current trying to decide on wether to get a 64 gig sammy, or 2 x 40 kingson ssds for my latest build. Those 4k read/writes are top banana. :-)

I assume the 40 gig kingston is a rebrand of the intel drive?

Yes all the 40Gb Kingstons are the intel drives.

I would get the kingstons as 2 in raid0 are faster than a single 80Gb Intel drive and cheaper :D

i just need another now :)

Nice idea.

This what i get with 2 40gb kingstons (raid 0):

Does not seem a massive improvement Vs the cost from the F3 to the SSD in question do the Intels give a better boost ? Also the difference between a fresh block and a used block seems to be about 50% read \ write speed :/

I admit I am still on the fence over a SSD so that why I am coming from this angel I am not here to poo poo all the owners of these drives.

Well i came from having an F3 as the main drive which tbh i was happy with at the time. The difference however compared to my SSDs is very tangible, and i now consider it one of my best upgrades.

Well I am only commenting on the numbers really I would love to try this for myself I guess. Just seen as the F3 are so cheap its hard to not just look at a sata raid 0.

I guess its down to funds at the end of the day.
