Copy and pasted from help section of RST:

Our application also provides support for the following features:
• Password-protected disks
This feature provides high-level security and protection for the data on your disks with a password, denying access from any unauthorized user.
• Trim (Microsoft Windows 7* only)
This feature provides support for solid state disks (SSDs) that meet the ATA-8 protocol requirements. This feature optimizes write operations, helps devices reduce wear, and maintains unused storage area on devices as large as possible.

Edit:

After reading up it seems these drivers won't allow TRIM on RAID'ed drives only on drives outside of an array.

^ Yeah it is! Intel have produced a good RTS driver set this time and I'm seeing improvements in benchmarks rather than a reduction with previous releases. Throw proper TRIM support into the mix and we have a winner. Some bench numbers for 80 and 160 GB drives comparing MSM vs RST.

Intel X25-M G2 80GB in AHCI mode with Win 7 (64bit):

Seemingly this new driver still does not let TRIM run in RAID0 (I am presuming neither automatically not by Intel SSD Toolbox), this is very disappointing I think...just to make sure I might just set up my 2 SSDs in RAID0 and see exactly what the situation is...

Yeah i read that Intel are still researching whether it is possible to have TRIM work on drives in an array.

At the moment i`m using the standard AHCI drivers that are built into Windows 7 on laptops Intel X25-M Mainstream 80GB so I can have automatic Trim, so i take it I can now replace these drivers and upgrade to this new Intel Rapid Storage manager drivers and not need to worry about having to use the Intel Solid State Drive Toolbox software???

Thank you for responding.

Yes! :)

One more thing I was wondering about was can these drivers be used with with normal hard drives in AHCI mode as well??? and are these drivers just the same as the Intel Matrix Storage Manager drivers but with newer features and newer build version and so is really a replacement for the IMSM drivers???

Thanks for responding.

Did you manage to find out ?
As it seems strange they`d put this in their help file if it didn't work
TRIM support is provided for all volume types except RAID 5
see the note at the bottom of the help file Creating a Volume > Creation process > Configuring the Volume

On a plus side the hot swap now works correctly with these drivers, compared to the MSahci ones

Help section built into IRS windows console.

Introduction>Getting Started>about 2 thirds down the page

Or just search for 'trim' in help section

They are replacements for IMSM.

Wish Intel would actually communicate with their customers even on the official forums everyone is left guessing.

Intel SSD Toolbox is probably doing taht because it has'nt been updated to be 'told' it ok to mess around with RAID'ed drives.

Toolbox sees the RAID0 volume as 2 separate volumes (not as one large volume as it did with 8.9.0.1023), but both greyed out, however, when running as 2 separate SSDs in AHCI mode the same version of Toolbox sees them and TRIM can be run manually...I'll let someone else sort out the ins and outs of whether or not TRIM runs on a RAID0 volume with the v9.6.0.1014 drivers...

Seem fine here (2xSATA HD, 1xSATA DVD burner). Still running the previous version of this driver, will install these tomrrow.
