Damn beaten to the drop :D

Lol what a joke comparing using physx rofl!

Vantage Xtreme preset no physx:

5870 - 8842
480 - 9241

Not using the 10.3 drivers either

I bet Nvidia insisted on benching physx games with physx on with ATI cards :D

No 5950 and physx tests. Clearly a bit biased, but it seems as though there's not a lot in it anyhow. DiRT 2 is the standout there, lots more frames for the GTX480 over the 5870.

And the newer beta drivers give even better performance for the 5870 as it stands. However, I have absolutely no doubt that the geforce drivers will improve quickly over the year.

If those are accurate, then color me surprised. around 50% above 5870 in CM2 and FC2?

Of course, probably 50% more expensive too.

Edit: Oh, using 10.2 drivers... never mind the CM2 difference then :)

PhysX is part of the metro2033 experience tho... so I can't see a problem there and apparently according to that review it does well in non-physx in both Dirt2 and FC2.

That said tho - the BIOS string and drivers look wrong for the GTX480, unless they've re-rolled the BIOS versioning.

I was going to debate this, but it won't end well. I'll stay OT.

What's wrong with the BIOS string?

Ok this will probably make some of the fan boys shut up now :) I am just going to buy the best and it clearly shows the 480 so that is the GPU I am going to buy.

Thank you for posting this :)

The problem mate is it doesnt paint a fair picture of how the cards perform apples to apples which personally is what I want to see.

Fair enough any physx game, with physx on, the 480 will whip the 5870.

The problem is to be fair about it any review shouldnt include a physx game as what % of games have physx? Naff all, I have played 3 and I have a physx enabled rig, 4 now counting Metro 2033
