Hi,

I'm concerned about some white stuff on my XFX Card (black PCB). What can this be? It's been like this since I bought it and never had any issues so far (touch wood).

I tried removing them with a contact cleaner but with no luck.

Seems to almost be like a residue coming from the solder points? I've not seen it before but looks like a water stain. Strange :S

Have you tried TIM cleaner? I wouldn't worry too much unless it starts smoldering :p

It does kind of look like it's got wet at some point, but that's unlikely. I've never really seen that on cards unless someone's water cooling has leaked on it! Was it brand new when you got it? I'd be tempted to contact the manufacturer and get them to replace it just in case.

Someone else might have more of a clue what it is than me.

looks like solder flux, when i used to make PCBs we had to put them through a ultrasonic bath to get rid of it sometimes?

Should come off with some alcohol solvent.

Nothing to worry about, you always get flux on PCBs just that it's showing more as the PCB is black rather than the usual green.
