GTX 580 Review

The conclusion from the review incase the site goes down which is almost certain:

•NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 580 comes at an MSRP of $499.


Pro

•Substantial performance improvement over GTX 480
•Large reduction in power consumption vs. GTX 480
•Quieter than other cards in this performance class
•Native HDMI output
•Software voltage control
•Support for DirectX 11
•Support for CUDA / PhysX

Con

•Still not as power efficient as AMD's designs
•Current limiter could complicate advanced overclocking
•Still limited to two active display outputs per card
•High price
•DirectX 11 relevance very limited at this time


Got an editors choice award.
 
The conclusion there is a bit baffling.

Though I guess it kind of comes down to what the reviewer has deemed 'substantial performance improvement'.
 
Overclock of 8% is fugly.:rolleyes:

Still slower than 5970...uses the same ammount of power.

Its nice and quiet though!

NO HOTLINKING!!!

More than likely, if you clock this to th 480 speeds id assume thats what nvidia were aiming for last year.
 
Look at the review raven and tell me thats a substantial improvement over a gtx480. Its a decent improvement at best. The overclocking i am not sure about i have seen some gtx480's with them clocks so i imagine as i said clock v clock you will gain 10% going to a gtx580 from a gtx480.

Im running the KFA2 Anarchy edition GTX 480 (oc'd to 870 MHz Core).

I would see neglagible gains from a 580! What a shame as I was really hoping for a viable reason to get a 580.

Will be a very good card without a doubt...but certainly nothing groundbreaking or miles ahead of current top end cards
