9600GT + Black ops

Is it possible for me to get a 9600gt to play black ops smoothly? It doesnt have to look pretty aslong as its 60fps+. Ive changed settings etc and it just doesnt do anything. Its only being played on a 17" Monitor @ 1024 by 768.

Built a little pc for brothers xmas, Here is the spec:
AMD 9500 @ stock (Cooled by Titan Fenrir Evo)
OCZ Reaper 4GB DDR2 (1066mhz)
Asus motherboard
9600GT

I'm using a 9800GT and on 1024x768 I could never get it to run what I would call "smoothly", but I think it's more that I was getting constant problems with Black Ops, and this was a while ago - it put me off the game and I haven't played it since...
 
i played through crysis on a 9600gt on medium settings and it was fine until the stupid glitch at the end of the game. should be fine with black ops id assume?
 
Black Ops has performance issues on just about anything tbh.

That said I gave it a whirl on my laptop T9600 @ 2.83gig w/ GTX260m (which is just a 1gig 9800GT really) and at 1680x1050 with high settings 4x AA it was averaging around 60fps, still quite choppy and stuttery tho but thats just Black Ops and treyarch fail.
 
It runs perfect on my current rig, Although i did add a 2nd 5870 last month. Im sure a 2nd hand 5850 would be perfect for him. the 9600 gets about 40-50fps but its very jumpy. I have tried editing the config file and the graphics look bad but the fps are not much better to be honest.
 
my friend with a 9600gt and 2gb ram found going from a dual core E4500 to a Q6600 massively helped him, dont know if that will help you though.
 
I got black ops 4 Xmas from my wife :). I have the 5850 1gb (rest of my spec is in my sig) I've got everything max out @ 1600x900 I get 100fps+, runs smooth :) BUT I don't get this tho!, I play COD 4 all max out same res and get the same fps strange lol.
