How do you get audio through the HDMI output on a GTX 480/580

I'm pretty sure you had to connect the little cable on the 480, have you checked the cards to see if there's a little socket for that cable?

I thought the 4xx and 5xx had their own internal sound card (Like AMD), you would need to select that as the output as opposed to your motherboard or add in sound card though.

well for my ati 6870

you just select it in windows 7
nothing to mess around with connectors or cables

for me its control panel, sounds and select hdmi audio

I still haven't been able to try it yet as am still waiting for my HTPC case to arrive :(


Now to next question :p
Would the audio be better from the GPU card onboard audio chip or the motherboard onboard audio chip ?? :confused:
As i be feeding the audio through my AV amp to a 5.1 speaker setup..
