Just thought I would give this a whirl as I refuse to pay for fraps! And from the quick go I had the Video record feature works very well... just the file sizes are abit large to say the least! :p
I've just left it on full frame (720p), 100% quality, MJPG Compression. A 4 minute 48s video has got a filesize of 3.65Gb!

So anybody else that uses it what sort of quality settings do you use?

70% quality is good enough, 1/2 frame , 30-60fps. Then use Windows Movie Maker to upload full quality to youtube if you so wish

Just had a quick go on Portal 2, the filesizes are much better. :p
I will need to use full frame for 720p videos though right?

Is it the same button to stop recording as well as starting (or is there a cap on vid length)?

Yeah it's the same button.

Well the videos of Portal 2 that I've just done are only 640x360, so I assume Full Frame will record them at 1280x720?
Although saying that the quality of your video there is really good!

Limited to 30 second clips, or at least it was last time that I tried it?

70% Quality, Full Frame (720p). MJPG, 30fps. Looks pretty good to me!

I am trying your method now on GTA IV. :p
But surely it's better to record at 1280x720 rather than 640x360 than upscale it in Movie Maker?
With that Portal 2 Clip I encoded it afterwards in Movie Maker at 1280x720 with a bitrate of 10.13Mbps which lowered the file size further.

70% Quality, 1/2 Frame. MJPG, 30fps. Encoded in Movie Maker at 1280x720 with a bitrate of 10.13Mbps.

I used 70% Quality, Full Frame, MJPG, 30fps and I have no idea what I did in Windows Movie Maker just added a song and clicked share and used the recommended resolution which was 960x720.

How do you guys get sound working? Use other software? Also my E8400 struggles to cope with recording at decent FPS. :(
