Hi new here and to overclocking so bare with me for any noobie errors and tech knowledge i spurt out.

Ok i know from my research the 4100 is apprentley crap, I should have done that before i bought it but i'm stuck with it until i fry it or something other happens and i upgrade it.

I have an Asus M5A78L-M/USB3 with stock H&F (Os Win 7 64, G7 580w PSU), im awaiting on a Zalman HF coming throught post.

So this bulldozer can overclock apparently to stable 4.6MHz on stock H&F and without any voltage adjustments.
Mine don't it reboots at 23x when i run Prime95 Torture test.

Using Cinebench and Prime95 i ran a few tests with multipiers, stock is 18x at 3.6MHz

I started from 21.5x with idea of going up to 23x in .5MHz increments.

Cinebench 3.14pts @ 21.5x
Cinebench 3.05pts @ 22x
Cinebench 3.04pts @ 22.5x

-----
Prime 95 was stable on 21.5x after 20 minutes of torture but recieved an error "HW Failure & something about rounding" , On 22x, worker 4 crashed after 5 minutes and worker 3 after 8 minutes

My max core voltage was 1.428v at 22x 4419.8MHz
IDLE 1.008v
CPU temps never raised above 66c

Is my PSU to weak , does my core voltage need increased or am i my wasting time.

I'd appricate any guidance and help tweeking it because i have little knowledge on OC'ing but i'm curious to how far i can push it and learn a little.

It might just need more voltage, you say:

So this bulldozer can overclock apparently to stable 4.6MHz on stock H&F and without any voltage adjustments.

Unfortunately when overclocking nothing is guaranteed, the FX4100 turbo speed is 3.8ghz so that should be easily obtainable but anything above is down to the individual chip, power supply and cooling.

I think in your case it might well be cooling so I wouldn't increase the voltage until you get that sorted, 66C is generally too hot for AMD CPU's.

Ok with the Zalman installed, I'm pretty happy it knock off 20c ! for a cheap & cheerful air unit
