Hi,

I recently moved into a new house and I am sure that the fitting under the sink is completely wrong for a dishwasher waste pipe.

I have attached a picture of where the previous tenants said they put their pipe. Now in the flat I previously rented it had a pipe where you had to put the waste pipe over it, but with this one it goes into it??

Now it looks like I need a waste pipe that has a screw end and a rubber O ring so that I can screw it onto the white part in the photo?

Is this right?

The adaptor that the waste pipe fits onto has gone walkies.

Luckily you can get them quite cheaply from the likes of Wickes and B&Q.

Hey thanks guys!! Knew that it wasn't right. Will go ahead and pick up the connector tomorrow. And yeah the blue inlet thing is exactly the same on the sink part where I have the waste pipe.

Also I don't seem to have the U bend traps that most sinks have? Is the U bend part in the white plastic bit or something?

You are suppose to have a U bend - its what keeps the drain smell contained, but it looks like that has been setup without one. Maybe lack of space, you may get a bit of a stink from that drain.

isnt the trap connected on the end of the gray waste pipe on the left, hidden by your bowl? or is that just a straight connector?

the dishwasher pipe, it looks like you've connected it into the part of the waste that is normally for an overflow and not a washer connection so thats why its probably leaking.

the whole set up you have their is a mess to be honest, its a kit that comes with a new sink and they always seem to leak, you're better off with a Mcalpine double bowl kit with the washer connections if you want to do it properly, goto somewhere like TAPs, PTS, somewhere proper, not B&Q unless you want to buy nasty parts for a rip off price..

Thanks Mickie, but your going to have to say what TAPs and PTS are lol as I don't recognize those places. Yeah looks like I'll have to upgrade the piping as on another forum they have said its done all wrong.

So I am looking at doing a setup like this:
