New version of Prime95 specifically for Haswell CPU's.
From developer: 30th August 2013
For any Haswell owners that are interested, an evaluation version 28.1 is available. I have some ideas to improve it further, but they will take some time to implement.

I sure hope it works correctly because I've started using it on my Haswell box

It's getting more and more difficult to get stable on these new versions, my 3570k would pass 4.5GHz @1.256v now it needs 1.320v or more on this new version, why is that? because it's rocketing the temps into the high 80's and even low 90's

Necro thread revival time...!

Unless you are developing prime (why it is needed I do not know) there is no need for it.

Look at it another way if you wanted to to be able to run for 1 mile a day for health reasons would you really start running a marathon a day risking injury or worse just so you then could get to your goal of 1 mile a day? NO

As 8pack always suggest the best way to test that your computer is stable in "normal" use it to is to use it normally.

Another Yorkshire guy with the right approach!!! Un-surprising ;) !!

To the AMD guy prime is not needed so don't worry!!!

Us Yorkshire lads know where it is at and it is really not torturing the very expensive nice shiney things that we buy and stressing them to the point where it may cause serious damage for no point.

Another way to degrade your CPU's and only prove your system can run Prime 95!!! Nice ;)
So how does OcUK test stability on CPU's guaranteed to run at 4.6GHz, as an example?

Tbh, ive given up on programs such as p95/ibt. This chip of mine under a decent air cooler runs way too hot with such programs. 81-93c across the cores. Just use my normal tasks such as games, rarely see temps over mid 60's. With my previous 3770k, i could pass hours of p95 or multiple runs of ibt, fire up bf3 and it crashed seconds into a round.
