Reference cards

As many of you know already the reference card will use a shorter pcb, as seen on this POV card.

It's my opinion that all OC cards will probably use the GTX 680 pcb, there might be a few with the shorter pcb using non-reference coolers but I doubt they will be pre-overclocked. But you never know.

Prices

Obviously no confirmed prices yet. But as Gibbo has said they'll be over £300. I've seen a few Euro prices & UK ones, so I expect some retailer at launch to have the Gigabyte Windforce 3X OC at £370 top price. Between £340 to £370 at launch for OC'd cards. Reference cards I think will be £310 at minimum, Palit, POV cards etc. I'd be shocked if there was any under £300 at launch, but it would be crushing for ATI and a superb move from Nvidia. As usual expect prices to flatten after a couple of weeks, and maybe we'll see something under £300 then.

Wait they overclock to 1350 Mhz?????

I was reading the turboboost speed of 980 Mhz as the overclocks that people were managing on them!

The reference card start at 915mhz and boosts up to 980mhz. That Gigabyte card starts at 980mhz, then overclock that a bit and the boost on top.

So that guy adding 100mhz onto his core taking it to 1080mhz and then the boost has taken it even further.

From what I can tell, you get almost the same default performance and less power consumption for £120 less.

The only reason, it seems, to spend the £120 more is if you want to overvolt and overclock heavily.

Would be nice to know from Gibbo when the NDA ends, if he can put them up straight away at 00:01 on Thursday morning.

Then we can be disappointed by inflated prices before we go to sleep and not when we wake up to start the day. ;)

The above was a joke, don't hurt me sales and purchasing team.

I thought Gibbo said they would be over £300, Though not a lot over was how I read it, Still knowing Nvidia and their pricing structure we could see them around £350-£370. Would be interested to see how close these are to gtx 680 performance, Not sure how convinced I am of Tweaktown`s review as yet.

I do think the gtx670 will shake up the gfx market a bit in terms of pricing, If it does come out just over the £300 mark as the 7970 & 7950 will drop for sure and also the gtx580 should drop to a nice price too.....Hopefully!!

310 i'm getting one. If higher i'll either pass or wait until they are 310. This generation are still overpriced.

btw, the 580 is eol, don't expect huge discounts, just expect them to slowly fade away.

I can see it coming in around 320 quid for reference cards and around 350 quid for non reference cards. Looks like a great card, very close to the 680. Should shake up prices a little hopefully, I just wish nvidia would release the 660 to compete with the 7850/7870 as it seems they have let and have a free run at the mid range so far :(

The MSI GTX670 OC will have a core clock of 965mhz / boost: 1045mhz

Looking at the picture and the other pictures of the MSI card that are around, it does look like this one is a reference pcb & cooler. I'm guessing MSI will release a more overclocked non reference card as well.

Even so I would take the cash saving over a few FPS gained going with a 680. If all you do is bench 3Dmark all day then yeah I suppose the 680 makes sense over a 670, for gaming a 670 would be my choice if it comes in at around £320.

I hope we get some 680 sized 670 PCB's at under 350, not keen on the midget PCB.

If the performance is that close i think i'll change my 680 pre order to a 670 and save nearly £100, also cheaper to go sli in future and similar perf. But we'll see until more reviews are out. Although if these figures are true and 670 is a lot cheaper surely itwill hurt 680 sales... wonder if nvidia really want that to happen which makes me doubt these early previews...

hmm

Very excited to see what these bring to the table, especially if that +1300mhz boost is easily gained on the cards.

Really hope to see some better reviews than the TT one before Thursday.

680 SLI or 670 SLI, its going to be a tough week :o

I know this is a 670 thread but is there any news on overvolting reference 680's yet? Ive pushed the highest i could go on stock volts 0.988v i believe and would love to go higher now that its watercooled.
