Hello,

I have a few days ago received this monitor from OCuk.

Samsung S23A750D 23" 120Hz

I am using it with a Gainward Nvidia GTX570 Phantom GPU via DisplayPort cabling.

The trouble I am having is that the monitor has great trouble picking up a signal from the GPU when the computer has gone into sleep mode or been switched off (at this point I can get a signal to the monitor). It's only when I turn the computer back on and then the monitor that I get no signal. To get a signal I have to remove the power cable and put back in or sometimes remove the DP cable and put back in.

I have tried not turning the monitor off (the monitor goes into a sleep mode when the computer goes into sleep mode) but on putting the computer on it does not pick up a signal.

It is only by removing the power cable and/or DisplayPort cable will I get a signal. And this is intermittent.

I have tried upgrading the firmware from Samsung but this hasn't helped.

Any ideas?

Hi

There are problems with this monitor and its display port connection i remember there was a thread about it on here do a search ;)

Doing a quick google reveals people with the similar problems it seems to be more of a hardware problem with the monitor.

Im not sure if there was ever a solution for this :(

Shame on samsung for not putting a dvi connector on this monitor.

DP can be quite picky about cable length and quality for 120hz make sure your using a good quality cable thats 1.8m long max.

Hello,

There is a thread here on the Nvidia website.

There has been a communication issue between Nvidia drivers and Samsung Firmware.

https://forums.geforce.com/default/...tinuing-issues-with-samsung-s23a750d-monitor/

There was a firmware update from Samsung for its SA class monitors on 26th Sept 2012

I have the updated firmware and latest Nvidia drivers but the issues with the monitor still remain.

NVidia and Samsung still have their work cut out for them to fix this issue.

Please post any updates regarding this.

Some people have reported that DVI-D to DisplayPort works for them. The question is: What type of DP cable will work (1.0, 1.1, 1.2)

Thanks,

Nevica

As Rroff said try a better (preferably relatively short) cable. The standards refer to the port controllers and the cable itself does not change with revisions. Some manufacturers may quote the latest DP revision available when the cable was made, it's just marketing.

And the SA series is very broad. That firmware update was not specific to this issue nor was it actually intended for the SA750 series or SA950 series in the first place.

I have the 27" version of this monitor and used to have the "Not Optimal mode" pop up all the time. I'm also running the latest Nvidia beta drivers 310.70 (I think). I sent it of to Samsung for repair and I don't get the problem anymore **knocks on wood**

Previously:

I tried updating the firmware;
Running other NV Drivers
and also purchased a Delock DP cable from the Rainforest as suggested on Overclock.net

None of which solved my problem. Just send it of for repair. If my problem does however come back I'll keep sending it back to Samsung until they eventually find a fix or replace it for a higher end model without DP problems.
