This post will explain to you why delaying the launch of new graphics card is never a good idea. It will also prove that the naming of R9 290 series is quite unfortunate.

He's well aware of it is not the 290x.I don't get it... You paid for a 290x and you got a 290 thinking it was a 290x?
lolHave AMD been in contact with you primouf?
I'm still lost, he paid for a 290x-it turned up as a 290 and he's happy to have paid 290x money and become laughing stock?
Laughing stock? He's the only consumer in existence with a 290 and did bench runs on it and provided confirmation for details on spec. Nobody would be laughing at him.I'm still lost, he paid for a 290x-it turned up as a 290 and he's happy to have paid 290x money and become laughing stock?
"Of course there wouldn’t be a point of being member of Overclockers UK forums if he didn’t run some tests."

The 290 would be much more "bang for bucks" than the 290x anyway.
primouf if you are keeping the card, then you should still chase whoever he bought from for refund of the price difference.
Contact them and see what they say. They might rather just refund you the price difference (after 290 is officially launch), considering it doesn't benefit them to have to pay for the return postage (they have to, since it's their screw up) as well as taking back an opened and used item.i would love to, but as the 290 aint out yet and we don't know the price, How will they refund me the difference
i'm sure this retailer is still selling 290 at 290x prices...
