Hi I just received my 770 today and when I start the pc up the fans spin up pretty fast and it's kinda loud I don't think it's 100% spin up but they spin pretty fast until I get into windows desktop then they go back to normal again. The first ever card to do this. I was just wondering if anyone else is having this???

Thanks

I have had this on past cards, my Gigabyte WF 670 used to do this.

so is this just normal then? or would I have to change something in bios? I recently had an msi 770 and evga 770 and they never done this but I sent them back because of bad coil whine/buzzing. Thanks for getting back to me.

Every other card I've had, has done this - dunno why some do and some don't (taking into account some cards like my latest are too quiet to hear if it does it or not).

The MSI cards have it set at BIOS level to run in reverse, you can mod the BIOS so it doesn't do it.

I'm not even sure if they are even running in reverse on Gigabyte cards.

If you didn't have the Nvidia drivers installed, the fans would run at 100% all the time, I notice this when the drivers are removed, because once the Nvidia drivers initialise they drop down to idle speeds.

My MSI 670 frozrs do this. The fans spin at full rpm in reverse on boot to get rid of dust. I have two in my case so it creates a right racket on start up! They go back to silence once Windows loads though.

Not sure if my wf 670's or my current 780 done this as the fans are so quiet. But its a great idea. Removed the 670's the other day and the fans were spotless despite me never cleaning the cards.
