So after not much luck with the previous beta version I was unsure what to expect but have to say I am impressed. FPS is massively improved, 90-120 FPS constant (capped at 120) on a 64 player map, and the release is now stable with no crashes for me. There was a bit of a blip when I first launched BF4 as it started full screen with a border and didn't like being changed to full screen borderless; game hung for a while but then recovered and I was able to make / reverse the change numerous times without further issues.

Video memory use increased by about 600-800 MB but that might be what has contributed to the improved FPS, maybe the driver is utilising the video memory better?

I did think it had caused an issue with throttling the CPU, which I haven't suffered with, but then realised one of the fans on my MSI Gaming R9 290 was stuck again (a different fan to last time this happened). I will have to keep an eye on this but it is easy to detect via the GPU temp in MSI Afterburner and fan speed (when the fan speed is hitting 90% I know there is an issue!)

A stock FX8350 doing minimum 90fps on BF4 64 multiplayer IS impressive.

For people who game on 120/144Hz monitor, the CPU not being able to push constant 90fps+ is an issue that not even having three GTX780 in SLI can solve (as the limitation lies with the CPU, not the lack of GPU grunt).

There is a big difference in bf4 performance going from win7 to win8... if bf4 is your main game there is no reason to use Windows 7... also gaming on amd cpus... meh :(

I just like W7 though; can't get past the way W8 appears; albeit based on what I have seen on the internet rather than using a W8 machine. I am a bit of an AMD fan as well and the 8350 is a great CPU (IMO of course) with good performance at the right price and potential to overclock if I feel the need to squeeze more out of it. I had a run of NVidia that had faults a few years ago and culminated in one catching fire so I have used AMD graphics since then as well.

Mantle is how battlefield 4 should be played the difference is unreal.
Said it before and say it again, the smoothness under Mantle makes battlefield a much enjoyable experience. Zero fps drops understand demanding parts of the map, also get no screen tearing which has surprised me.
Screen tear is normally something I don't notice tbh but if I look for it to do see it, but when using Mantle I can't see any just me?

Typical now i sent my R290 back as the 14.1 where abysmal, really do hope keep on improving tho still think they should have waited and got it right first time

I'm finding the new drivers excellent too - frametimes are much lower, framerates higher = MUCH smoother in BF4 :)
Just started playing Bioshock Infinite too which runs buttery smooth completely maxed out (yes I know it's not a Mantle game) but in general I think these drivers are excellent

Mantle is different gravy. Once you've had a taster theres no going back.

How is gaming on an AMD CPU meh?

I game at 1920x1080 everything maxed out on a stock 9590, zero issues and if Mantle comes to more games then the CPU really does become irrelevant. :)

Intel of course is the CPU of choice, especially if benchmarking, but if gaming 1920x1080 or higher resolution the CPU is having very little effect whereas the graphics card makes a dramatic difference. So for some people it makes sense to save £100 on the CPU/Mainboard and put an extra £100 towards their graphics card choice as that will have a far more positive impact to gaming performance.
