Benq BL3200PT

Why is nobody making 27 inch 2560 x 1440 monitors with 120hz and VA panel. Eizo do a 24 inch with VA but it's only 1080p.

Does anyone know of any???

because at this time there aren't any panels manufactured like that. I believe there will be some at some point, either from AUO or Sharp (like the MVA panel used in the Eizo FG2421) but getting response times down to a level which makes 120Hz worthwhile (ie under 8.33ms G2G average) is tricky with VA panels at the moment. Likewise it's tricky with IPS/PLS type panels, which is why you don't see any native 120Hz IPS panels yet

this looks really good tbh, now i have to consider this against the 21:9 34" models

also, a shameless plug for PCM2 :)

PCM, you reckon this could be a viable gaming screen? i mean casual gaming, mmos, diablo, some shooters like planetside 2....

Always welcome. ;)

It really depends on your own sensitivity to trailing from pixel response times. I don't expect this to be any faster than some of the snappiest 60Hz VA panels out there (BenQ EW2740L, Samsung S27C750P for example) but hopefully not significantly slower either. If you can tolerate a moderate degree of input lag (maybe looking at 16-25ms as a complete random guess) and some trailing like you always get with VA then I think that this does have the potential to be a very enjoyable gaming monitor. It's a completely new panel though, who knows how it will turn out. :)

baddass, are you going to review it? i need someone like you or pcm2 to review it :)

yes, should have the screen with me this week. Review coming soon. Will provide some review updates as i go via twitter too. if you're not already following, get following :) (@tftcentral)

so, dropped the dollar, read the review, ordered one from a local retailer here fro 578 EUR. should arrive tomorrow/friday.

wanted to wait for PCM2s review at first, but my curiosity got the best of me :)

Nice screen @ 16:9 which is very important as 21:9 screens are stunning but it does not look like 21:9 are going to be adopted as mainstream anytime soon which brings a lot of issues in games especially like Dark Souls 2 which are hard coded for 16:9 only & VAC protected so no-way to run mods.

interesting, saw this monitor specced on multiple sites as having refresh rate of 76Hz, woot? :O

What do you mean by 'specced'? That sounds like a standard resolution at lower than native (i.e. 1920 x 1080). It's 60Hz at 2560 x 1440 officially, with a vertical refresh range of 50-76Hz depending on resolution.

I suspect the 76hz mentions are because BenQs website lists vertical frequency as "50 - 76hz"

http://orwww2.benq.com/product/monitor/bl3200pt/specifications/

But that's common for most specs. That doesn't mean it will support 2560 x 1440 at more than 60hz. And even if it did I bet it would just drop frames making it totally pointless. I didn't check that when I had the unit with me but sure PCM2 can do so when he Receives it soon!

Don't get excited as I'm pretty sure that's just a spec error or over-enthusiastic use of the spec listed!
