Hi Guys

Would a 4TB WD Black SN850X be good for using as a Game Storage drive (for steam & Gamepass etc games )
Was going try get another Samsung 4TB 990 pro but these WB black SN850X are a fair bit cheaper

(Am just trying to save a bit of money where i can on this PC build)

From the reviews I have seen the gaming benchmarks are the one scenario in which the SN850X beats the 990 pro so yes it will be a great game storage drive.

When I looked at them in November (SN850 vs 990 Pro) they were very similar in terms of performance and the main difference I could see was the price so should be good to go with either.

I got the 990 Pro, it was about 10% cheaper due to a deal that was on at the time.

I bought the same 4TB drive recently and it is great, performance is a none issue and well recommended for a gaming drive.

I Ordered the 4TB SN850x :)

So at very long last am really hoping this means i can get rid of the last 3TB 3.5 hard drive out of my PC case ;)

But i still have a 4TB 2.5 SSD to replace with another 4TB M.2 at a later date

So my storage setup should end up looking like this

2TB 990 Nvme for Main system drive C
4TB 990 Nvme for Games (Game Pass games and any other games that are not on steam)
4TB SN850X for Nvme Games (Steam Games !)
4TB 870 SSD for everything else i have on my system that isn't games

I have the 4tb SN850X as a storage drive and the 2tb SN850X for the OS, and owned the 990 pros.

I notice no difference between them. Go with what’s cheaper!
