You guys expect the 5080 to be slower than the 4090? Man, the 4080 beat the 3080ti, 3090, and 3090ti and had headroom for another couple tiers too. Like it beats the 3090ti by like 30%.
I know the X060ti series went from jumping like 3 tiers (3060ti jumped 2070, 2070S, 2080, maybe 2080S) to jumping... none lol (4060ti loses to 3070) so there is precedence for this kind of thing, but man, that would be 2 ****** generations in a row. I'm so ignorant to all this stuff. Does the node matter like it does for CPUs? Are they going to a new one? Is it always a new one?
If things hold steady, this will be my first time mainlining an AMD GPU since... whatever I had before my 660ti. Can't even remember.
Since 99.9% of my gameplaying is now iracing/racing sims in VR, and nvidia's toolkit(dlss/frame gen etc) is absolutely irrelevant to me now, and since AMD makes better GPU's, I'm gonna be taking a really, really good look at AMD this generation. Especially since I'm so happy with the 7800X3D. Nvidia is so damn cheap the last few years, they managed to make ram a problem lol. While charging unprecedented exorbitant prices, while holding a near monopoly.
edit: this might be the generation we all sign up to play on giant nvidia ai superclusters or something. With everyone on earth assuming AI is going to be mowing our lawns and doing our taxes and cutting our hair, and with nvidia seeming to have the biggest hold so far, should we be buying nvidia stock?
