Awful title but I'm sure you get what I mean. While I have a lot of experience in water cooling and custom build's I have never really looked into customisation of the PSU and Cables (A fear of electrocution I guess :p )

I am looking to build a new project in a Caselabs S3 case and was wondering:

1. If I was to create custom cables that are shorter/longer than the originals can this cause any issues?
2. How do I find the AWG of the wires on the original PSU and if for example they are 16AWG will there be any problems if I was to use a better cable e.g. 18AWG?

Also I was thinking of painting the PSU cover. While I know that you need to discharge the caps and voids the warranty I was wondering if there was any other issues you can face removing the internals for spraying?

Thank you in advance for any help.

1. I don't see why it would
2. let us what psu you use so we can help you find out.

regarding the paint, it is doable but you're better off asking someone that has done it. a few people on bit tech and oc.net have done it
