Hello. So I just took delivery of a Hive 2 with Hot Water and Heating. Picked it up reasonably cheap on the deals. Now I went for no installation as I thought I would give it a go myself. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers

I have a Flexicom 30cx and a Salus RT500RF

Here are a few pics of how my system is currently wired

The 1st cable on the left is coming from the mains socket mounted on the wall
The middle cable is running to the boiler ( Black+ Red NO COM )
The 3rd cable is also running to the boiler

This is the Hive's Connection Plate

Here's your boiler manual: http://www.glow-worm.co.uk/glow-worm/flexicom-cx-157167.pdf

Your boiler can accept 24V or 230V signalling for heat demands. It's currently configured for 24V (diagram 10.2).

The Hive 2 only supports 230V controls. You'd need to reconfigure the boiler wiring to be like diagram 10.3. Then L, N & E from the incoming supply go to the relevant points on the hive backplate, and the switched live ("R" in the boiler wiring diagram) comes from the "CH ON" terminal on the hive backplate.

I think I have it. I removed the 24v controls and added a wire from the R terminal in the boiler to terminal 4 on the Hive then just moved the L, N and E wires to the Hive also?

Correct :D

Your current backplate uses the screw terminals to join the Ns and Es from the incoming and boiler, so this is required on the Hive too.

Thread revival! Nearly a year to the day.

How did you get on @kPATm ?

I have the same boiler and looking to install the Hive. Shame that photobucket have nuked your pics :(

Just seen this topgun sorry. The Boiler and Hive setup have been working fine since I installed them mate. I could try and take more pics if you need them mate?

Thanks dude, nice one! It should arrive on Monday so I'll look to fit it next week. If I get stuck are you up for taking a few pics? I'll let you know.

Hi @kPATm,

I've not looked at this properly yet, but would you care to supply some pictures of your installation? It will save me time when I come to installing the receiver. That is once I get the Hub to connect to the internet... it is having trouble.

The 1st pick shows the wiring to the Hive bracket. The Black cable is just a single wire going from Terminal 4 on the Hive to R on the Boiler Socket.

The Cream colored cable is going to the main power socket. Any more info just ask. Sorry about the Mahoosive pics BTW

Hi @kPATm, me again. I've been unable to get it to work unfortunately. What did you do with the fitted timer on your boiler? I think that this may be interfering now. This thing:

Current wiring is as follows. I've tried the black wire in both 3 and 4 on the Hive backplate. It is wired up as per the diagram from the boiler manual as far as I can see.

Well I've sorted it!

The existing timer is set to on
My black wire now goes to 3 in the Hive backplate
L is connected to 1
And I've removed the connection between 24v - 0v in the electrical block

So considering you have the same set-up as me, I don't know how yours works @kPATm :p

Sorry topgun I keep forgetting about this thread mate. I removed the 24v bus from my setup. And my Boiler didnt have the timer fitted to it when I bought the house. It had a cheapo wireless thermostat. Glad you got it working anyway mate
