I've got a missing side of architrave after inserting a new steel beam. It previously had an old archway, but I've since opened up the room to be open plan.
The existing architrave is circa 30mm in width and Ive bought some which is 70mm in width. The new architrave has a slight radius on the end and I can cut it down on one side (it doesn't match existing edge though so can't just do one side of the frame ).
What would be the best way to remove the other side also? (recently reskimmed). I was thinking of using a multi tool and cutting out the side?
Then sticking new architrave down each side? Is it best to use nails or glue? Can filler cover any small issues in framing to existing shape? I'll paint both sides after.
Should the new architrave be cut down to similar size as existing other ones?
If it's a better job left to a carpenter, Ill end up getting one in to fit other doors, but seem to struggle getting them in to do any jobs (no trouble with other tradesmen)
