Hello,

I've been working my way through quite a few monitors this year, trying to find the most suitable option.

Some time ago, I got an miniLED ultrawide from AOC which has an IPS panel and 1152 zones.

Is the blooming in the game menus expected for an IPS MiniLED?

I tried a VA with much less zones and it looked better.

It is indeed expected on IPS. As above VA looks better; I think it's the AOC Q27G3XMN that has half the dimming zones but apparently looks better in HDR content due to the higher native contrast

I suppose the only advantage of mini LED Vs OLED is the potential for higher full screen brightness and far lower burn in risk, but personally all the other benefits of OLED outweigh that.

After seeing people getting Screen burn on OLED's (How many have Mrk returned ;) ) , Think i stick with my Blooming monitor for a little bit longer ;)
Meanwhile I'll be enjoying superior image quality and response times.
MRK has a first gen qd-oled panel which are more susceptible to burn in than the later gen panels. But also Dell give 3 year burn in warranty and return and replace the monitor at the same time so who cares if he's returned it 10 mines.

I don't seem to see much blooming on mine
Mini led ips 5 hundred and something zones forgot exactly
Though I guess I would need something similar
To the ops picture with a black background
And a ot of white text
Or could just be my eyes are shot lol

And according to someone who was selling a dell oled in mm
Only the first time covers burn in
Your replacement monitors have no burn in cover
According to what dell told him anyway
Guess you would need to read the warranty small print

As mentioned earlier, the VA model I tried was surprisingly good with really great contrast. So I was thinking IPS with it's weaker contraast might not produce great results even with a lot more zones.

You're right about the Alienware warranty, I had this confirmed by Dell's technical staff.

Using my LG CX for the time being and it's excellent for gaming.
