Just been comparing these two and wondered if anyone could explain the results:

  1. Pixel Shaders - the higher the number the better?
  2. The range of the core speed for the 555m starts lower and goes only slightly higher than the 550m - which is better?
  3. Same as 2 but this time for Shader Speed - again, which is better?
  4. Max memory speed is the same for both? Are there any advantages for being able to go lower?
  5. Do you want a higher memory bus if possible (so is the 555m better here)?
  6. 3DMark appears to be a program used for testing the cards performace, with 01 being the oldest version, 06 the newest. Why does the 550m have higher readings than the 555m on the older version but not on the newer?
  7. Again with the 3DMark, what do the red/pink and green bits mean?

The GT550M in the L702x is like a GT555M in that they both have 144 cores but the GT550M is clocked at 475 and 950 for the core and shader clock speed whereas the GT555M is 590 and 1180 for the core and shader clock speed. The other difference is the GT550M has either 1GB or 2GB which means it'll be 128-bit (2 x 512MB or 2 x 1GB) whereas the GT555M is 192-bit.

Saying all that it's not easy to compare the two but from what has been said recently, the GT550M can be overclocked to bring it close to the GT555M level of performance but of course the GT555M can be overclocked too.

Ah okay - so the figures in the image are the max possible for each card, but in the L702x they are just not maxed out in all areas yeah?
