Pi backup question

made quite a few errors messing with my raspberry pi 3b, my question is once i have it running the way i want it too what is the best way to backup the
sdcard so if i do make a balls up i can just write the saved image to it?

What did you do exactly? I don't think balenaEtcher can create images from your SD card, it just clones device to device.

Have a look at this guide, if you're using Windows you need to use something like Win 32 Disk Imager to create an actual image file from your SD card:

So i used win32 disk imager to read my sdcard and make an image, then i wrote the said image to another sdcard the same size etc to see if the process worked. The write completes but when i put the card into the pi it just sit's there on a red light no flickering green activity
light from the pi.
i am doing this on windows 11 home and the pi is a 3b+

Update, just booted direct into the pi desktop and used the sdcard copier in that and it worked a treat.
