Appologies if this should be in the network forum but thought it fitted better here.
I have been told to look into streaming DVD's with in college, ( I dunno why i have been asked to look in to this, but will look good for me).

Would this require a new server? or how would you go about doing this?
Any help or links would be much appreciated.

TIA

I spent a while playing with this a while back, the answer is it depends what exactly you want to do. If you want tens of on demand unicast streams doing transcoding on the fly then you likely need a new server, if you just want to stream a file as is to a few users, or multicast it you may well get away doing it on another box.

I've got the Realplayer Enterprise bundle to play with at work which comes with a load of streaming server stuff, think it's called Helix server.

Once I've had a play I'll be able to say what it does/what it's like :)

Cheers Ev0. If you could let me know the outcome of that.

I think there wont be to much demand to start with maybe a dvd that could be streamed to a few class rooms,

If you're using a Windows platform then use Windows Media Services. I've used it in a VERY similar project in a big college. No problems at all. :)
