Looks like a combination of dayz, mincraft, 7 days to die. Except this time the engine looks ten times better than any of them. Will give dayz an exception because of the size of the map..

Here is what the developer has to say.

The Forest is an open world survival horror game currently in development for PC.
Build, explore, survive in this terrifying first person survival horror simulator.

The world
Enter a living, breathing forest with changing weather patterns, plants that grow and die. Tides that roll in and out with the day/night cycle. Below ground explore a vast network of caves and underground lakes.

Complete player freedom
Chop down trees to build a camp, or start a fire to keep warm. Scavenge food to keep yourself from starving. Find and plant seeds to grow food.
Build a small shelter or a large ocean side fortress. decorate your home with found items. Lay traps and defenses to keep a safe perimeter.

Gameplay
Explore and build during the day. Defend your base at night. Craft weapons and tools.Bunker down during the evening or bring the fight directly to the enemy.

Fight or Hide
Use stealth to evade enemies, or engage them directly with crude weapons built from sticks and stones.

A new type of open world, survival horror experience
Defend yourself against a clan of genetic mutant enemies that have beliefs, families and morals and that appear almost human.

No MP as such, ie on a dedicated server, although the devs are probably going to implement co-op, which to be honest with you is what I would prefer for this type of game.

1080 with everything maxxed out, looks like xfire isn't working yet...

TBH the picture doesn't do it justice, the scenery is great!

OMG.. Loaded in and went AFk for a couple of minutes, came back to find a tribe surrounding the airplane, they were climbing up the trees as fast as anything and jumping from branch to branch.. Creeped me out!

Xfire aint working yet either, same fps for 1 card and 2.

A sort of semi fox for the no save issue.. Basically if you die you will respawn in the caves. I am not sure how it works when you reload the game, I doubt it will save your position, but at leats you can enjoy a nights gaming/building!

All you have to do is copy Assembly-CSharp.dll: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B0Iw0RYBuMN2dFF4ckMtSHp1NUU/edit

to: Steam\SteamApps\common\The Forest\theforest_data\Managed
and overwrite the existing one. But please do a backup of the old one if anything goes wrong.

You guys do realise that the story is complete.

The game actually did go somewhere nexus, bit hard to believe, but it did!
