If you're having failed installs and windows reverting changes etc. Do this.

Go to the hidden system folder C:\$WinREAgent , delete the contents, reboot. Run updates again.

Had a spate of them in work with issues, this fixed them all.

Edit, to quickly check if you have this issue, Winkey + R, type winver

If it ends in 3007, then you're stuck on the February update. So do the steps I said above.

I'm new to Win 11, can't say I'm enjoying the experience but there is currently an update sitting in my 'Windows Update' page, which seems to cause no end of bother once it installs. The PC just goes black after the restart and I have to manually power the computer off.

When switching it back on, it starts to undo all the recent changes and after awhile it's all working again - but the update is still sat there with 'pending' next to it. It's happened twice now because I think it auto installed after around 2 weeks and the same thing happened so I've just been searching of a way to block that one update, and I stumbled upon this thread.

Will try what you suggested.
