After days of considered thought at the thought of parting with my beloved 350D i went for it.

But i had a restricted budget so wondered if the extra money required on top of the 350D's sale price would be too much.

Turns out deals can be found!

Sale of 350D, grip, 18-55 and 55-200 = £400

Purchase of 30D, remote shutter, 512mb card, 1gb card and lowepro mini trekker AW = £440

Feeling of smug self satisfaction... priceless!

Sorry about the poor pic - had to use my W800.

£40 for a 30D.. can't be bad. :) What lenses you have left though after selling those two? You only got the nifty(edit:which is infact the f1.4 :))?

very good deal.
Make sure you get your camera insured!

My 30D has been giving me some problem e.g sticky shutter button / Err99 (but could be the lens I bought 2nd hand (Tammy).

To test how much better the 30D over 350D is to try out some action shots on max fps! you gonna love it.

ps: Not sure if those memory card can cut it at high FPS.

Great deal!

I think the temptation when the 40D starts to REALLY push the prices down might be to much for me :p

Lowerpro mini trekker? I bought the same bag, it's fantastic isn't it? got so many adjustable spaces for lens' and all your gear it's great! very comfortable to!

Congrats on the purchases :D

Cheers guys!

Really am chuffed. The camera is awesome.

As for lenses, i've got a 28-70mm f/2.8-4 sigma, the nifty f/1.4 and hopefully something a little bigger (but that isn't finalised so i'm not saying til i got it! ;)).

Actually, khan, i was thinking of getting a 150mm macro. Damn your macro shots! :D

I actually just got a manfrotto 055prob delivered for £70 too. Just need a head and i'm set!

EDIT: Also, don't worry about the memory cards. They'll be used as spares mostly as i have a 2gb Extreme III.

Not a bad collection there. You not feel the need for something a bit wider than 28mm though? The 150mm certainly is a damn good lens. A bit tricky to use at first, but its so versatile. Depending on what you get on the long end, it might be worth considering looking at the Sigma 105mm as well.:)

Will take a look at the 105 as well thanks! :)

I'm trying to put a little aside for the 10-20mm hopefully.

I don't see myself going full frame any time soon so the Sigma fits the bill.

join the club (just) lol :D

good price you got there, is that new?

I want the mini trekker AW too, was tempted yesterday but thought better of it with regards to trying to explain to the better half.

Cheers wez! :)

The 30D's not new i'm afraid!

Just lightly used. Has a light scratch right at the bottom of the LCD and a few scuffs on the base which is to be expected.

Overall i'm more than happy still.

The trekker's a great little backpack. It's a little more worn around the edges and the tripod strap is a little frayed - nothing a good sewing machine can't fix.

Might put it up on MM though as i already have a backpack that is loaded up and ready to go.

Are you saying it actually cost £440 for all that, or £440 after deducting the £400 you got for the old camera?

Sigma 105s are ace, by the way. I have one.

£440 for the lot above.

It's not new but it's in perfectly good condition and works perfectly! :)

The £105's tempting too - what images have you got that it's captured? I'd be very interested in seeing them! :D

this thread kinda puts a downer on my gleaming brand new 400d so i wont start a new thread.

<hugs 400d and says it will be okay>:(

Hey 33L,

The 400D is an ace camera. Loved my 350D so the 400D must be awesome. Enjoy it! :)

Also, remember to take a look at the 170-500mm in the MM. You know you want it! ;)

the 400D is a more than capable dSLR 33L, just a bit small for me and i don't like the plastic body, but it has 2 more megapixels than our 30D's :D

what are you asking for the mini trekker and can you show pics, as i need something bigger than my orion trekker to fit my 70-200L in (it's in the top which is not padded so i need it protected ASAP.

Looks like the GF has bagsied the trekker wez. Sorry mate!

I do have a Hama track pack that is a great rucksack.

You could fit a couple of large lenses (70-200 f/2.8 attached to camera and 300 f/4 for example), 2 or 3 extra smaller lenses, filters and flash.

At one point i had my 350D, 50mm, 60mm macro, 18-55mm, 28-70mm, 55-200mm, 170-500mm and filters in mine.

My mate has a 5D, ring flash, 100mm macro, 24-105mm IS f/4, 70-300mm DO IS, teleconvertor and filters in his.

Great rucksack - i'll try and get some pics.

If I get time, I'll try to get some tomorrow. Ironically I've been off work all week, and was planning to take some with it, of my new cat (named by the protection league as "Lola" *shudder*) along with a few outdoors shots. Sadly a few things came up through the week and I only had time today, so you can guess what happened - IT RAINED, and my cat hid apart from the five minutes it took tonight to jump on my desk and knock a can of lager everywhere :(

*edit* I've just realised, I do have one shot, but it's not a "macro" :p

http://niallallen.deviantart.com/ <-- It's the shot called Teddy. It's not the best, but it's all I have uploaded at the mo.
