XP updates

Hi all

I currently have 2 os’s on my rig (XP & Vista), now xp is purely for games, nothing else, I’m just going to try to install games on that partition and keep it as bloat free as possible. I even went as far as to make an nlite disk and took all the junk off and I think I more than halved the install disk :D

So now the question is, do windows updates decrease/increase performance? I know it’s a silly question but just curious to know if its worth updating.

Thanks in advance

Deano

Unless its drivers you are installing off WindowsUpdate I don't think they increase or decrease performance. The XP ones at least as I've no experience with Vista.

The patches off Windows Update are mainly meant to patch bugs and improve reliability so they'll have no effect on performance.

Plus if you ever have problems and you haven't installed all the latest updates, guess what people will say?

yeah thats a good point, from when i was using xp before it didn't really seem any slower with them on, I'll update then when I get home I think.

Thanks
