I just got some kind of really weird shock from my CRT monitor i touched it and it sort of vibrated my finger :/im going to psych myself up to do it again in a minute :cool:

should i? It really did hurt! But i need to investigate

dude :/ it happens all the time, build up of static, you can get it from TVs and other screens, although it shouldn't really hurt, just tickle

no seriously people, static on the screen is not what this felt like, it litterally made my finger vibrate and in my body i felt like mild brrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrb

just static on the screen, used to get it off out old TV qiute often.

Run your hand over or very near to the screen and you can feel/year the static. (or if you put your arm near to the screen the hairs on your arm sticking out towards the screen,

We had a thread ages ago about static shocks. I remember mentioning you're more likely to get shocks if you have dry skin.

Sounds more like the OP has a faulty earth though :eek:

i just did it again and its sort of massaging in a way, the glass bit does it, not the plastic, do you think the glass is seeping electrons or something

all over the glass as well anywhere however if i put more than one finger on it spreads out the pain!!!

Still likely to be static, it's just like an electric shock. Your screen obviously just had a fair amount and you directly touched it.

ok so i have all 5 fingers on the screen and i can bear it, but when i take off 4 and leave my little finger it actually put my arm into spasm and made me lift it away quickly ie i didnt make my self do it, it was a motor-neurone action (i[think])
