A guy in work tried to sell me 8 legs of venison for £50.......Is that two deer?

hehehe

It was the happiest day of my life. Wife waiting at the alter, flowers blooming everywhere and a great turn out. I swept a tear away from my eye, kissed my wife on the cheek and closed the lid

:p:D

but recently you lot have decided you want to gang up on post about his writing style?

broad brush stokes, and all that.

I really can't see how you can blame him for the fact you don't like the way he write.

I'm not.

If it annoys you that much add him to ignore and don't decide to turn the whole thread into an Angus bashing one.
I have. Do not feed the troll.

If he hadn't posted it someone else would have just said "but can a bird bird" etc, just as he did , the only difference being he added an explanation, and went into more detail than others would.
It's likely the other person would have formed a typed sentence with out excessive use of over-the-top parenthesis and punctuation, with the intention to start a thread derailment, as has happened in previous threads. Sure many posters here don't know a full stop from a bus stop, and in threads where this happens they are attacked by the grammAr Nazis etc etc.

I would find it very odd and inappropriate if the mod suspended warned or banned Angus for his ability to use decent English, and provide thought out explanations, but totally ignore the whole Angus bashing brigade.

Hey let people post how they want. This is GD. After all this is a silly thread with a lame joke - it's not the end of the world. If Angus' posting style were to continue in more threads, I can see problems. It's basically borderline trolling spam. Not a good thing to be posting, even if it is GD.

Thing is though he's been posting like that for 1000 posts and no one commented or called him troll then.

"Hey let people post how they want. This is GD. After all this is a silly thread with a lame joke - it's not the end of the world." that was in response to you saying you expected a mod to warn him for his writing style.

I think that the more we make notice of his vocabulary exhibitions, the more he believes that it's because we need it 'dumbed down' because of our seemingly (to him{lol}) inferior posts, and then he offloads his vocabulary like a machine-gun, reinforcing his smug ways and killing threads.

I must admit I'm also guilty of over-use of brackets, especially in emails/forum posts. It's quicker and requires less thought than trying to make something 'read well' which is something I only ever bother with in formal quotations, proposals, official letters, etc these days.

Surely it's better someone over-use language dan 2 tlk lk dis on da form cos ** all 2 gay init.

Get off the poor kid's case :).

Well the problem I have with it is that he is pointing out explicitallly stuff that its implicit anyway. He's writing as though we are all ******* retarded, explaining everything he says to the nth degree.

you know, a bit of brevity can be a good thing, as surely the more that's explained the less annoying 'he said she said but you said but i said but i meant but you said and i thought you meant but i meant' will occur over misunderstandings, which seems to permeate most forii.

then again the very act seems to have sparked off a bout of said 'he said she said' here so, maybe it's unavoidable.

Thats not what I mean. I mean you are explaining you posts in way that would only be necessary if we were all retarded, we are not so you could try posting normally

You're not trying to make people seem stupid, you are posting in a way thats only needed if people are very stupid.

I like to ensure that everything is well explained. I do not want to risk people misunderstanding my posts and causing massive problems for me. I do try to ensure that posts make sense, and often brackets are used to give extra explanation for those who may otherwise misunderstand me.

I will state again; I do not want to have people causing problems for me because they do not understand a post I have made (or simply do not understand what aspect of the post refers to what aspect of the subject of my post).

Argh just stop!

You sound like A.L.I.C.E. on a bad day.

I understand the desire to be understood, but your posts are so convoluted you are achieving the opposite.

OK, I am hoping that I need not post much further in this thread.

All I can tell is that for (approximately) 1000 posts in this forum I was perfectly fine, but seemingly in the past few weeks I have been called a number of things, including a future mass murderer, and also disabled.

I am simply a member of these forums in order to communicate with other people. If you do not like the style of my posts then you may ignore them, but I will not cause myself difficulty simply to make my posts fit in with what you want.

I post how I think, and there is an ignore feature (I believe).

i want you to stay, purely because (in my [honest] opinion :p) you make me smile with your posts. they also read very well and only a few people get wound up by it. :)

also, i learnt one or two things about English grammar in these arguments you caused. :o:p

still can't be arsed to use capitals though...

Dude you rock:D, seriously though your posts make me smile. You come across as being quite intelligent for a 16 yr old i take it??. Its refreshing to see someone as young as you take time to make sure that you use the correct grammar and spelling.

I think a lot of these young kids in here could learn a lesson from you in the art of grammar and spelling. Hell even some of us oldies could do with a lesson.

But seriously you rock...keep it up and dont worry about the idiots here who are trying to bring you down.
