DX10 Explained in a user friendly format...

World in Conflict should be the first decent showcase of DX10. By all accounts this will blow minds with its textures and DX10 features.

Will the full game feature more DX10 "stuff" (lol how technical) compared to the demo? As the demo only had x1 DX10 option iirc.

what!!!!

crysis isn't even out yet so how u know/say it'll be 20-30fps?

i didnt say that at all.

i said that some may say its fine if the game ran at 20-30, where as others would say thats far too low for it to be enjoyable.

but i think they'll release the mid range cards first then the high end cards early next year..

and anyway they haven't said a release date... it's all "maybe" and "could be"

nvidia have never released the mid range first as far as i know. it would be stupid of them to do that, as you will always get people who want to buy the most expensive first, then you want the middle target range, then the lower. thats why they charge so much for the ps3 on release, as there are always people willing to pay massive somes of money for the top of the range

Yeah thats true, not like they have to release the high-end cards yet, they still have the 2x fastest cards out Ultra/GTX, although they did say they were going to release a new high-end card every November when the 8 series came out, we'll just have to wait and see what they do.

Is it just me or doesn't that not look THAT impressive.

Ok some improvements but nothing really makes me think OMFG MUST GET 2900XT NOW!!!!1111 :/

Hope it gets better lol

unless its impossible i dont get why microsoft doesnt add dx10 to xp apart from forcing people to vista. - dx9 can be used asfar back as windows 98:rolleyes:

I think that's what the article answered. It said that because they had to redisign directx10 from the ground up, rather than just tweaking and adding to the previous versions, they had to cut out compatibility with older OS's as they just wouldn't be able to integrate it.

Well that certainly confirms one thing for me, I'll have to keep to my age old tradition of being 2 years behind the times, look at the gpu power you need to make the most of dx10 games, OMFG.

You cant tell from screenshots. Games are too advanced now
The only way I judge a game apart from actually playing it myself is with a proper HD video and that takes like 500meg so is pretty rare.

If dx10 is better its going to be in subtle ways like lighting and smoke, all of a sudden it'll click into place and have a total effect that exceeds anything dx9 could achieve previously

Yeah Nvidia wont say no to money... its Holiday season, its just before Xmas, crysis and UT3 and Supreme Commander expansion...... its forced to literally arrive November.

hopefully it wont be too rushed on the driver side then, but then again, what card nowadays isnt?

Absolutely none of the games feature din this article are proper dx10 games so I fail to see how it relates to proper dx10 performance.....

We know an 8800GTS will run Crysis just fine at higher settings but Crytek have stated the game details can be pushed even further and an 8800GTX will be brought to its knees as the game was developed with a lifespan of at least 2-3 years.

They also said the DX9 version of Crysis looks better than other games in DX10 which is 100% true from what has currently been shown.

Given the fact that Far Cry looks fantastic today is a big factor in how much you can take Crytek's word on the matter.
