How are folks enjoying their Wii's a few months down the line?

Hi,

I've toyed with the idea of picking up a Wii.
I have a nipper - aged 4 and think that it would be fun to play with the Wii's control system & fun games together.

Currently I have a 360 and hardly played any games on that since christmas last year. I had GOW and that is about all I've been interested in (although a few coming out soon).

Also have a PC, which I do most of my gaming on (bioshock too).

So how lasting is the fun factor of the Wii. Does it continue past the novelty of the first week? Do people find themselves going back to it?

Haven't turned mine on since Christmas (after I completed Zelda) :(

Will do as soon as some decent games start coming out for it

Until then it's just a novelty item for the non-gamers who appreciate a quick pick up and play

It's ruddy great. I honestly don't have enough time to play all the games I have for it... Zelda, Paper Mario and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes are all sitting on the side waiting to be played.

To be honest, though, the 360 is currently commanding more of my time due to the recent releases of Blue Dragon, Bioshock, Puzzle Fighter and Pro Evo still takes up around 40 mins each evening.

Lasted maybe 2 months for me. Lent it to a friend for a while and since he returned it I haven't even unpacked it again :/

It's fun but the games I have played are quite shallow.

Rayman - Fun, inventive mini games with little else to it.

Wii Sports - Fun until you discover the little tricks that allow you to beat the CPU/Friends with alarming ease.

Zelda - Just cannot get into this at all :(

Technically impressive I think and a blast with mates for a couple of hours but for serious gaming sessions and solo play it's one I would avoid.

Hopefully Rockstar will get Manhunt 2 released by some means and I'll have reason to plug it all back in....

Had mine about a month now, seem to be playing it more than the 360. Absolutely loving Res 4 at the moment, a must buy if you have a Wii.

Never really used it since getting it in December and playing Wii Sports for the first month or so. I have tried most of the games on the system, but none kept me playing for more than an hour or so.

GF enjoys Trauma Centre though, and I hope I will be able to get into MP3 when it comes out.

Wii Sports hasnt left me Wii since January. :o

No games for it that appeal to me at the moment.

Just seeing if i can get 300 everytime on bowling. Got it twice so far.

I never really play it since I beat zelda before christmas, I played the odd game of wii sports after it and thats about it. I borrowed spiderman 3 off my mate and although it's got great controls the graphics are too bad to play practically xD. I play my 360 almost daily though since launch.

It's far more fun than my 360 to be honest. Paper mario, Zelda, Resi 4, metroid prime and mario strikers are brilliant. With Smash bros, mario tennis and mario kart out sometime in the near future no gamer should be without one!

Loving mine, play it everyday with Tiger Woods 08, Zelda, Trauma Centre and Wii Sports.

Looking forward to plenty of games this autumn/winter.

What's Tiger '08 like mate?

Thinking of getting this myself.

If it's anything like 07 on the Wii it's pants.

The Wii has had very little use since my girlfriend finished Zelda.
I've got Mario Strikers but that was a one week game.

Waiting for some decent releases, keep thinking about picking up Res 4 but it hasn't grabbed me yet.

Just got mine... mainly for the Autumn lineup but Wii Sports and Mario Strikers are really good. I need to spend a bit more time with Strikers to get in to it as at the moment theres a little too much going on for me :) I've never been very good at sports games on consoles.

If you are tempted by one, i would definitely advise getting one in the next month or so. They will be soooooooo hard to find over Christmas unless Nintendo has done some serious stockpiling. I might even get a second to sell on when they are even more scarce :o.

Was going to buy one but a friend lent me his for a few days, played on it for a day then couldn't be bothered after that. Gave it back and i don't think he's played it again either.

The Wii really is a gamecube with novelty control and no games! Just glad i borrowed one first.

My gets used VERY rarely, but now the 360 is bust I might dedicate it some time. It gets a lot of use if friends or family are round, my sister who is a total non gamer is addicted. I do think that it would be ideal if you have young family as you do.

Overall its cheap, and great fun. Plus there should be some great games coming out soon, so its the ideal to get hold of one.

Oh, and buy Donkey Konga if you get one :)

I dont use ours much but my GF does once or twice a month. In a last ditch attempt at getting some use out of it we have started renting titles. We played and liked Brain academy, mario strikers is very good but so far the rest we have had through have been pap.

The only game people ever want to play when they come round is wii sports.

Not enough choice in titles at the moment so it kinda depends whether or not the sort've games you like are available for it or not right now. I find the control system very intuitive for certain games (SSX Blur, Excite Truck, Wii Sports) and enjoy it as a good social gaming experience, but could do with a lot more games to choose from.
