New low? Sony edits Halo 3 Wikipedia entry

Wonder why when Microsoft was caught editing the Wiki entry about the 360 failures, slating Apple and offering people money to change there wiki articles about Microsoft no one bothered posting? Is this any less crass than the PS3 launch when Microsoft employees went around handing out Xbox chairs to people waiting in line or having a barge sale past the TV cameras with Xbox live Posters all over it at the Paris launch party. That was quite amusing in a way, sad but quite funny bit like the Wiki entry.

The MS changes, like the Apple ones or the Sony Blu-ray ones are not directly relevent to a 'console gaming' forum.

The MS PR stunts were just that, open PR stunts; nothing was underground. I'd rank Sonys idea to release the Killzone 2 demo the same day as Halo 3 is launched (http://www.n4g.com/News-64784.aspx) the same as MS sailing past the Paris Sony PS3 launch with a banner saying "Xbox 360 heart you". It's an open and honest PR stunt; publically orchestrated to deflect attention.

As I've said I don't think this is a big issue, it's just a bit embarassing for Sony and something they'll probably (should) end up publically apologise for.

It's called Sony Bashing. Some people in here will pass on every scrap of intelligence they can gather to carry on with this fine tradition.

people calling for a public apology need to wise up, this story is equal to a non event.
And anyone thinking that sony care about this need their heads checked, the only people that care are militant 360 owners.

Also good to see jihad blindly add his two pennies, I'd say ms are bigger ******* for misleading customers over the faults issue and continuing to manufacture and sell a product they knew to be inherently faulty and for peter moore to come out and say things brake.

I think 360 owners should direct their anger at the company they helped to the posistion they have reached this gen, especially when they sold those customers so many dud consoles.

No way in the world you can be sure it was a direct employee
Bu using a PC based at SCEE in Liverpool it could only have been used by an employee of Sony.

Would put a completely different spin on the story IF it was actually an MS employee (or an affilliate) who somehow managed to get access to a free internet terminal at Sony - a shared publisher for example - and did the editing (admittedly unlikely but just as improbable as an actual Sony employee doing it)

There are no free Internet terminals at SCEE, you are aware it's not a LAN center, it's actually a builing, a highly confidential one at that.

Not saying they would have course but it doesnt need to be from there, you can spoof an IP address without much hassle, although you would have to know it first. It was only there for about 30 mins so it was removed shortly afterwards, surely Sony had more to lose than anyone else by this.

Please read my whole post :D I did mention the possibility of people visitiing (for a meeting lets say or a person for interview) using a pc thats only got internet access

I work in a highly confidential (hedge fund) in the city, yet we still have internet pc's for visitors :D

Have you heard of Ockhams razor?

I think you would have to have 'fanboy' tendancies to see this as anything other then a very very sad incident..

Quite frankly SCEE and related companies must have a very high content of PS3 Fanboys, with all the mistakes/lies/aggressive anti-360 marketing that they have done in this generation Sony are going down a path that really should never be tread..

Why can't they go back to the good old days when the products spoke for themselves and Sony was seen as a 'quality' ethical company who cared about it's customers, not this 'jealous schoolboy' nonsense that they are doing..

I can see people's instant justifications popping up with the 'their's no proof it was a Sony employee'.. and that is always a possibility (slim I'd say), but it's strange how MS employees/Divisions don't make these constant mistakes against Sony isn't it??

The difference is, SCEE don't allow visitors, the only people who are in and out who aren't part of the company are interviewee's and they never get access to a PC. Gaming companies have to be VERY careful about what people do or see, there was a big discussion on this yesterday at GameHorizon in regards to tours (Blitz games allow for University tours, no other company said they would allow that - including Sony).

Its possible that the head of Bungie hacked the SCEE network from his house and altered the post. This was after ditching the idea of wearing rocket boots and flying into the Sony building through an open window.
That's pretty simple explaination.

Even if the person who made the post isn't employed by SCEE, they still allegedly used a PC that is owned by SCEE. Even if the PC was in some sort of cyber café at SCEE, it's still owned by and is the responsibility of SCEE with regards to what it is used for.

Oddly enough, that's one of the more logical reasons given here.
