ARGH Flippin' fanboys - you are warned - it's a rant

ignore him. the ps3 is far inferior to the xbox360.. :p

nah only kiddin. a console is a console. it plays games.

nuff said.
has he got an xbox btw?

i must admit im a sony fanboy but i do admit the 360 has a decent stand i actualy have one .... and tbh both side have good and bad points the ps3 shows promise but wether theyll ever use it or not before the next round of consoles is unkown altogether the 360 has the basics for now and is good all around shame about the ps3 price tag ....

What annoys me more, is that not only has he never played a 360, he's never even considered it, he might really enjoy it, yet he will sit there slating it. If a PS3 was put infront of me, I'd be at least tempted to play it, even though I hate the controllers.

So you're saying Xbox360 only has the basics?
Could you explain in what areas the PS3 excels over Xbox360's 'basics'.

I'm actually quite interested, especially as I was in a conference hall with head of Sony yesterday.

I would presume he means the 360 (as standard) has no HD drive, no in built WiFi and stuff. Not sure what your interest has to do with standing in a conference hall though

We need to remember that some 'fanboys' are just 'mis-informed dont know any better' people on the street, others well yes, their PS3's rock the world, end of...

I own a PS3, I think it's great, I prefer it to my mate's 360, but I think all this fanboyism between the two is ridiculous.
They both have plus points and minus points, you choose which one suits you best and enjoy it, making a point of trying to devalue your 'chosen enemy' by picking out it's minus points for ridicule serves no purpose. For every 360 "You've got hardly any games to play" fanboy, you'll get a PS3 "Hahahaha! DVD9!" fanboy.
The only system that really needs ridiculing right now is the Wii, which is bizarre outselling both other systems, regardless of the fact it encompasses most the minus points of the 360 and the PS3 put together.
I concede entirely that in 6-12 months time the Wii will likely have a surge of enjoyable, ingenuitive and very playable games, as the devs get used to the nunchuks. (Bit like the DS as it goes, that was dead in the water for a year, I should know, I foolishly bought one on launch day!)
However, right now there's absolutely no reason to buy a Wii, except that there's all these 'cool' adverts with middle class families playing 'fun' games together in their Ikea living rooms, which sadly exploits the aspirations of most parents. The success of the Wii isn't down to it being a better system, it's because Ninty hit a nerve with the buying public and bascially 'did an ipod'.

Silly public.

Don't bring that **** in here.

People buy the system that suits them best. Just because the Wii isn't for you, it doesn't mean that it is the same for everyone.
The Wii is the only console i have and will buy this gen. Why do i have it now and not in 12 months time?
- There are currently a few games i want to play.
- Before march next year there are a tonne of exclusive games being released that appeal to me more than the entire library of exclusives on the 360.
- It is relatively cheap compared to the non-gimped versions of the other consoles.
- It does and has everything i want in a console (aside from wanting them to make a single, global profile for online games... they can even keep friends codes but just have 1 for each Mii/Wii that is used automatically with every game).

The Wii is already by far the best console for casual gamers and gamers that want something different. I have a PC and 90% of the games that appeal to me on the 360/PS3 are coming out for the PC. This is why the Wii is the only console that i think is worth buying.

Like i said, they all offer something different depending on what people want. The Wii is what most people want. Because of that one single fact, it derserves all the praise that it gets and very little of the flack that comes from people like you.

Because Sony were one of the speakers, it's also the first time I've ever heard Sony not admit to being better. The only area they admitted to being superior in is 'physics' due to the mathematical abilities of the Cell.
Therefore clearly the Xbox360 is not 'basic'.

You should see the msn conversations I have with my longtime friend. He absolutely and completely dismisses anything 360 and bums Sony like he's getting paid for it. He also said MGS4's engine was better than Bioshock's. I then asked him if UT3 had a better engine than MGS4. He said yes. It's just blind, blinkered bias. The circle of friends we hang around with won't invite him to our upcoming Halo 3 lans because he just doesn't know when to stop acting like a tool within 5 yards of a Microsoft console.

The Wii has less quality titles than the PS3 and is nearly as expensive as a Core 360, I already said that in the next 6-12 months there will likely be a surge of really decent games, but right now it's a desert for decent gaming. A good 80% of the Wii owners I know stopped playing it after about 2 months and are waiting for new titles to renew their interest.
Surely you must agree in that situation, it would have been a smarter move to wait 12-18 months for a decent library of games to start filtering through, and then pay the inevitably lower price for the console instead of paying launch price, only for the system to sit gathering dust for a year? That's what I'll be doing.
I'm all for 'different' when it comes to gaming, but 'different' still has to equal 'fun' and right now there are shedload of 'different' games, of which about 1% are also 'fun'.
I wasn't suggesting that EVERYONE who's bought a Wii is an idiot, but the sheer volume that have been shifted don't currently reflect the value of the system, so there are a vast amount of people out there who've bought it simply to 'buy in' to nintendo's marketing.
You bought one because the price suited you and you personally felt that the games you were going to get would be worth the cost of the console right?
Well you know about games, you've done the research, your decision was based on fact.
What Nintendo have done, is made it a 'must have' item and marketed it towards traditionally non-gaming demographics, who don't know about gaming, don't do the research and decide based on the adverts alone.
Clever marketing, hats off to them for managing it.

I have found through experience that there seem to be a vast abundance of PS3/PS2 fanboys that just have to justify how crap your console is and how great their's is..

Just do what I do and never feed a troll..

The obvious signs to watch out for an agressive fanboy
A. Reguritation of hype/lies even though it's been disproven years ago
B. Blatant purchase approval criteria of obscure features like "I couldn't have bought a 360 as the power brick is external"..

Just smile, nod and agree with them, smug in the knowledge they lead simple lives and are easily pleased..

There is one major flaw with your logic mcwildcard, you're comparing the Wii to the PS3 and Xbox360 when in actual fact, they aren't in competition.

That is indeed a valid point, but it's overwhelming success has made it a genuine threat in the 'console wars', so it's sort of earnt the right to be put in the same category.

There are people who contemplate between getting one of three choices of console, so I would say the Wii is in competition with the other two of the bunch. Just because it's marketed and reached far beyond the boundaries that Sony and Microsoft are used to, does not mean it's now exempt from those very same territories. When I buy Wii games, I will make direct comparisions to similair 360/PS3 offerings, and so would a lot of other people. There are comparisions between Metroid and Halo for example. Comparisions between the Wii gyro controller and Sixaxis utility, etc.

It hasn't. The industry doesn't see them as rival consoles. The wii has a poor attachment rate for games, however the console sells in its millions, this is because it has attracted people who aren't interested in console gaming to get one for games like Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training or Wii Sports.

Nintendo could quite easily go and make a new console next year and release it.

I have a PS3 fanboy mate as well, he won't take any other opinions, and if you say "yeah well the 360 is better" off he goes arguing for the rest of the day :p i mean he's only got 1 game!

Wow he's lucky, I didn't think the PS3 had any games?

Anyway, Consoles are overated!

*goes to play with his whip & top*
