Gears Of War (Rant)

I don't get what the obsession with gamerpoints are!?

When some class mates saw my gamerscore online while at college, they laughed because it was so low (1500 or something around there), and the fact that my gamertag didn't say Pro (I'm not sure what it says, but it has 3 stars, I think it's something like Leisure, I don't know), while theirs is 10k+. Straight away they say stuff like, you suck and so on and assume I'm crap. Later that day I beat them all on PGR3 and thrashed them at Pro Ev 6. Fools :p

Gamerpoints = nothing! :p

I play almost solely multiplayer games so my gamer score is around 3K.

Iam god dame really mega COVER YOUR EARS ANY YOUNG ONES ON HERE man -- got 10584 Kills and still no seriously man EPIC need 2 get this sorted -- ive got 2 m8's on me friends list Who got it at 7844 and 1 who got it at 5466 ---

i really want this acheviment cause it stands for how many hours i have put into this god dame bloody Game (Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr)

:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Dont worry dude you will get it. Ive known people in the 11000 mark when they receive it. Its just the scoreboards messed up - when i got my grenade tags etc I ended up with 120 kills when I received the achievement. By the way how long have you been playing this game to get that many kills?

well i started at the end of feb playing it online -- hated it when i first started playing the thing online cause i always got toasted == before i even seen an emeny -- but in the last 2-3 months ive been hammering it every night --

mostly played raven down map cause i always get an average of 25 - 30 kills on that map --- me m8 said also if i steal any1 elses down they dont count -- only really stole about 100 max on that front

think if i dont get it in the next few nights it will be tossed out the window (game that is ;) )

I can see why people wouldn't attempt to get Achievements, but I can't see why anyone could see them as a bad idea. Personally I love the fact you get achievements for doing things in games.

Someone I know who lives down the road from me spent months getting seriously. He actually played everyday for as long as he could.

And one of my closer friends snapped his gears of war disk because he always used to lag because of his crappy wireless connection I LOLD hard when I was told.

Because it encourages people to move onto newer games, killing off the old games multiplayer online play.

Not necessarily, Gears of War, Burnout, PGR3 those have never struggled from it.

But you still get my point right? There are some disadvantages to the points system for people like me who don't give a stuff about an arbitrary number next to my name.

Yeah, I'd agree, those 'lesser' games are affected by it, however if it's a good game there is no problems. It's not necessarily the most accurate gauge to score a game by, but it's generally quite consistent.

Not all good games are popular, and conversely not all popular games are good (GoW for instance).

Have to agree with both Nokkon and Kreeeee here, so many great games are overlooked.

Any "true gamer" (ridiculous term) will eventually end up with all 3. It's the first time since I started playing games that 3 consoles from one generation are worth having.

Hmmm that would take some beating, gaming was fantastic back then, but yeah its pretty damn good right now, shame everyones arguing over whats best, but ignore that and your good to go.

Playground arguments about the SNES/MD were only mildly more mature that these forums.
