Well it was nothing like I expected. Don't want to give too much away for those that haven't watched it yet but it was more like a ducumentary than a film. Worth watching for me because I was 21 in 1983 (when the film as set) and it brought back a lot of memories of life at that time. I'd give it 3 1/2 stars.
I was watching an interview with the writer/director and he said he had gone to every acting school to find somebody to play him has a young lad.
He was about to give up but decided to try a normal school and came across him.
During the first 6 days he was about to pull the plug on the film because the lad was being a right pain so he took him to the side and had a quiet word.
The lad responded and a star was born.
i agree that it's not exactly entertaining, but i found it fairly enthralling and very interesting
i found it pretty intense at times and it definitely falls into the hard hitting gritty british drama, i'd probably go 3.5 or even 4 star
