There is no date, and one won't be announced. They'll just show up on shelves eventually.
Keep an eye out for the HDMI mark on the boxes, or you could go for the Halo one if you like the look.

It's probably no help, but my mate bought a brand new 360 3 weeks ago, and it was made way back in October 2006. My old Core i bought back in March was newer than that.

As above, the premium + HDMI will recieve no official release. It's a matter of old stock being sold and the newer version gradually taking it's place on the shelves.

I can see this still causing some issues in a years time with old stock sitting around.

That's very possible, if by then people assume when buying that it has HDMI and are unlucky enough to get a non HDMI version, they're not going to be happy.

The HDMI boxes are marked and do have their own product number, although if you weren't actually looking out for these you would probably miss them. MS are probably hoping anyone who specifically wants the HDMI version is also smart enough to double check.

Wouldn't it be sensible for MS to recall all the exsisting stock of 360's and ship them to repair centres? New cutomers get HDMI and new heatsink design, current cutomers don't have to wait 35 days for theirs to be fixed, just a thought...

You realise how much stock MS has out there? no it would not be sensible at all.

Will Sony recall all control pads when they bring out rumble? LOL

That's incredibly cost inefficient.

Oh and sony have had thousands upon thousands of deffective pads making 30 day backlogs in their repair centres have they? LOL

Well tell us why it is cost effective, obviously you know how much stock they have in the market, how much it would cost to recall all that stock and send for repair, then send back to the shops, and off course replace all that old stock overnight with the new stock...would that not flood the market, do retailers want double the amount of 360's they currently have, MS repair your own Xbox, not send you a new one, so your suggesting they double their stock....good idea

LOL

Probably will have once the batteries start running out eh :) MS repair centres are a bit slow at the moment but its not normal, its due to MS being good enough to extent the warranty, I am sure most dont mind waiting 30 days to get something fixed when they thought they would have to replace it from their own pocket.

Is it? Get the backlog of repairs shifted, have less coming in because there are less 'potential' faulty ones out there? Who said MS were ever cost efficient?

I agree with Mr Men, I don't see any valid reason as to why this would be more cost efficient (not time efficient).

What are you talking about? YOU mentioned cost effective clever arse, not me. Why would they recall stock and take it for repair, it's new why would it need repairing  Then send BACK to the shops??? Double amount?? what the hell are you on about, you really haven't listened or read properly at all have you?

Kreeeee did then you questioned it :-)

So what's your thinking behind this idea, double the stock to cut repair times by 20 days or so?

No need to get aggressive and abusive, Kreeeee mentioned cost effective not me.

Your the one suggesting they recall current stock to be repaired, where does it go once its repaired? errr back to the shops surely. You want MS to take all current stock to repair, now clearly if they did that they have to replace the current stock with the new HDMI console, I guess you never thought it through too well.
