Spot the irony in Fergie's charity eBay listing..

You don't get that they're selling a car that does around 5mpg to a charity that aims to prevent global warming and protect the environment?

How?

That's the reason why they are selling it! they are also offsetting its carbon emissions for 10 Years so not ironic at all

Is the irony that it is called a hummer and looks like a turd?

The irony is it is being auctioned for a "green" charity promoting alternative energy sources etc - yet the car they are auctioning is a 6MPG Beast that most green companies / activists / charities etc are boycotting.

Rich

Why not just sell the thing and give 1 million to the charity.

Instead she has to go on the bay - get a bunch of free endoresments and advertising and probably make 500,000 extra dollars - then goes out and buys a 4lt GT turbo (because she thinks a smaller car causes less CO2 emmissions)

Sorry, but go away love and adopt a baby like Angelina - its easier - cars are cool - but its the male film stars/artists that should be playing the celeb culture that buy this ****.

And for those that don't realise it - she bought it, she doesn't like it anymore (and just like the mere mortals around you) - she wants to shift her old banger and do a bit of publicity and a bit for the planet (along with all the other celebs who are currently jumping on the "save the world" bandwagon)

Why not sell your knickers.....

;)

No, the reason they are selling it is to get a load of publicity for both the silly cow that owns it and the charity. As well as some money for the charity but it is still ironic that they're using one of the worst cars for emissions.

A quote given on the definition of irony:
incongruity between what might be expected and what actually occurs; "the irony of Ireland's copying the nation she most hated"

The irony is they're promoting their self proclaimed worst enemy.

Fergie is so photoshopped on that image too, her lighting is all wrong compared to the shadow and lighting on the vehicle

Yeah, her image (seems to have just been pasted on [having been taken in a photography studio]). :p

Angus Higgins

Oh come on, even you're getting your own wrong. why should "seems to have just been pasted on" be in brackets? The final bit, yes.

If you read your sentence out loud it would be:

"Yea, her image [pause] seems to have been pasted on [change emphasis in voice] having been taken in a photography studio."

So in simple terms it should just be:

Yeah, her image seems to have just been pasted on (having been taken in a photography studio). :p

I think this 'bracket' thing is just going to far and strung out. At first it was amusing, but surprise surprise OCUK can't let something lie. Before someone tells me not to read the posts, it's a bit hard when everyone is doing it ;) The content of the posts is fine and interesting, the bracketing (or rather INCORRECT) is not.
