Hi guys, after all this rumoured talk about the G98 not going to be a high spec card and people saying the ULTRA will be better i am in two minds.

I play on my Samsung 40" 1080p tele and 1920 x 1080 is too much for my current card.

I love the resolution so want to be able to play freely in it without the FPS drops.

So is it worth selling my card on eBay and getting an Ultra...?

How much do you think i would get for the card?

I would like the EVGA 8800 Ultra but which would be best.... price isnt an issue so which one?

or

or..... should i wait? i just want crysis on an acceptable framerate on 1920 x 1080.

thanks!

Partly, ALL Ultras have REV3 Cores (some later non Ultras have them now many GTS 320's), OC better and runs bit cooler clock per clock, also the cooler design is different.

ALL Ultras have very expensive rarer 0.8ns Samsung Memory (rated for 2500mhz DDR if correct voltage applied, I get 700mhz Core/2400mhz RAM no mods).

Reason why? theres a considerable amount of price difference and FPS difference between the GTX and the Superclocked Ultra.

Superclock the GTX, it's not hard to overclock a graphics card, then performance difference is not that massive, allthough I'm sure some people will jump in here and start arguing there is a huuuge performance difference

What size monitor do you have?

I have a GTX @ passed Ultra speeds. I was so chuffed with it, I bought a second one. :D

Does that mean your Core is 612,636 or 655, and is Memory at 2150 or 2250 (depending on Model), cause I highly doubt the non 0.8ns Ram will go that high without voltmods.

Im @ 700/2400 is thats anything to go by.

If money is no option then get the cheapest Ultra would be the best option as it's faster and cooler than the GTX as well as has better potential for overclocking. If money saved would be a better option then the GTX is so bloomin' close to it though.

For top end

Want the best = Ultra

Want the best value for money = GTX

In which case he should get an 8800GTX, the Ultra is not worth the money over a GTX considering the only differences are clock speeds.

Money is no object Will. Think? :p.

Example:

"Hmmm, I have loadsa cash and I want a great card. Whatever is the best, I shall have."

Now, what is faster, cooler and has better RAM than a GTX?. ;)

Now if money was the factor and baby Joey will still be able to eat with the GTX purchase then it's a no brainer as you're not losing a lot to the Ultra and also saving some money but at one point you have to realise that it is faster, cooler and has better headroom for overclocking. Does baby Joey really need to eat ??? :D.
